This was a great platform game. Loved the art, music and sound effects! I loved how the game would pan across the level at the start and also I like that you included a tutorial for players.
Thank you! That was my first time trying to work with a camera system that could do some dynamic things! It's a bit scuffed but came out okay for the quick implementation!
It was kind off fun, but there was a lot of problems from the textures beaing streached or feeling out of place to the camera jitter during movement most likely do to different update cycles and some things like bigger collisions on the mushrooms which would be a great addition... if not for the part where you try to avoid them and feel like you aren't even touching them when they affect you. And the wierd controll scheme off F to press the button. But the rest of the artowrk was clean and the platforming game was fairly good.
Thanks for the feedback! We did run into some art issues so there are a few stretch textures unfortunately. I'm unsure what camera jitters you got, we weren't experiencing that on our testing in engine or on HTML. Might be a browser thing, or just to do with the HTML exporting from godot. Worth looking into for future tho! I appreciate you bringing it up!
The game was short and fun! I liked the movement, especially the mushroom stage where you have to navigate downwards the mushroom tiles. Moving around tiles to progress the stage was also pretty fun.
Some comments I have are that the tutorial scene's background pops out too much and makes the stage a bit hard to see. I think that you should also add the controls for navigating the starting screen; I was not able to figure out how to press the play button for a bit.
Glad you enjoyed it! Mushroom Hell (as I affectionately called it during development) is one of my favorite parts I threw into the game haha. I ended up finishing the amount of level I designed for... and realized it only took about half the space we had planned for the level. So threw in the downward mushroom maze, and the final harder mushroom ascent!
Extra points if you succeed at GamerShroom (going down between the first 2 mushrooms in the top row!)
I enjoyed the controls, they were fast and allowed for some tight movement. The art and sound design were also pretty good.
I'm glad to hear that! First thing I did upon deciding we make a platformer was tweak the controls down to feel nice and snappy! Had to sacrifice some mechanics I wanted to do with the mushrooms (directional bouncing, or removed control during initial part of bounce) to ensure that controls felt good, but I think the payoff was worth it!
