This is a really cool interpretation! I like that you can sacrifice your size for more movement.
I got really stuck on the third screen I believe, where you need to dash upwards. If you're going to continue to work on the game I'd put another tutorial image on that screen just like the one where you first get the dash, only showing it going up!
It turns out I wasn't playing in full screen so this is more of a me problem, but I was also confused when I hit my first button, I waited quite a while for something to happen not realizing you had to walk left. It seemed like I had all the info, but the gates were cut off. I think When you hit a button I would also pan the camera to the left a little bit to really sell that's the way to go.
Awesome job!
I enjoy the gloopy sounds and the sticky gloop sticking to the walls.
Very nice concept and expression of the theme. I like the balance of needing to loose some of your size in order to trigger a boost!
Nice game! A couple suggestions to make it better are to make you fall a little bit slower, and to add more player leniency via coyote time (being able to jump for a couple frames after leaving the ground), making the spike hitboxes slightly smaller then they appear, and making the goo hitboxes slightly bigger then they appear. I also suggest making the character look a little different the the goo pickups.
It was hard for me to get past part 2, because I missed a scale and I think that's why I couldn't reach it. It has an interesting mechanic. A good way to see the theme of the game.
Feel free to have also a look at my submission.
This game is really cool! I like how satisfying it can be to chain together jumps to quickly cover an area, and overall the split mechanic is very fun to use. However, the difficulty is very high, and the hitboxes on the goo blobs are too small to hit reliably, making it potentially frustrating to make sure that you collide with a goo blob midair.
I really like the creativity of the split mechanic! it's a fun way to add dimension to a puzzle platformer!
