SCLAE THAT MOUNTAIN

Hi! First off, I really enjoyed playing around with this – there’s just the right mix of semi-intentional jank, action, thinking and just throwing spaghetti at the window (trying things out).

Props on building the 3D stuff yourself! It looked good enough that I’d assumed it was just a really good asset pack at first (given the bare-bones visual presentation of the rest of the game).

I ran into the following things (or not ran into them in some cases I suppose…):

  • I found that I could get a bit off-course in level 0 (because I thought that you could click the example models, so I moved back and forth), which made me need to restart the game to get into the actual levels. – I had missed the reset/edit button at that point (since it says climb if you’re ready).
  • In order to edit (or delete!) an (earlier) object, you have to first press escape to stop placing objects, then select it.
  • In level 1, I could grapple some level edges.
  • I can make objects float in the edit mode by deleting the box that holds them up. Of course they fall to the ground in the physics mode, so that may be expected behavior, but I could still control them.
  • There’s a little ‘edge’ (at the very least in level 2) at the start that made one of my (badly placed) wheels get stuck on it.

I might’ve more comments later, since it is just fun to noodle around with (and I want to see later levels) – but I’ve to start rating other games too.

Hey! Thanks so much for the kind words and thoughtful feedback. We had a great time making it, I'm glad you had a good time playing with it! And thanks for calling out the 3D models, @applecore555 put a lot of work into them and did a stellar job!

Thanks also for the list of issues. Some of those we knew about and some we didn't, but it's good to know. Some of these are easy enough to knock out, we may go back and upload a fixed version after voting is closed just so we have it. I think our big downfall this jam was a lack of playtesting. We didn't really have a chance to get fresh eyes on it until we were already submitting, but once we did a lot small but significant issues started coming up. It's awesome to hear you enjoyed it enough to maybe come back to it later. I can think of no higher compliment.

It's fun just putting stuff together and seeing how it works. I put some rockets on the wheels, not realizing that the wheels actually turned and so the rockets would as well. 😂

My creation often slid slightly to the right for some reason, even on a flat surface. And I'm sure you already know, but the controls were a bit un-intuitive, would be good if the mouse could be used to control the camera as well as select objects. Also an object sometimes wouldn't place, but I had no idea if I was doing something wrong like if there are certain places things can't go or if it was a problem with the game.

I stopped playing it with a smile on my face, and I think that this could be a longer game that people would enjoy.

I am very proud of my bridge centipede:

Thanks so much!  We'd like to make the building more intuitive but we were short on playtesting.  I LOVE your bridge creation, I think we need to make a gallery of all the wacky solutions.

Fun interpretation of the theme, and I had some fun with the (a bit janky) grappling hook physics. But actually completing the levels was too hard for me.
