I saw chess and I knew I had to try it! I was not let down by the creativity of this game! Now, if only I had friends to play it with :(  (Just jokes, I have so many friends, they were all begging to play Roll Chess with me).

Some minor improvements that could be added in the future with time: Adding a menu and sound/music would help set the atmosphere of the game and make it feel a bit less one-dimensional. And of course an AI opponent would be awesome, but I'd be blown away if you got that done in the allotted time of the game jam, so no shame in not having that. Lastly, having the king be able to transform into something else and lose immediately, although funny, definitely cut my game short LOL. Maybe making him immutable would be beneficial to the gameplay overall.

I really liked this concept! It added an incredibly new dimension to chess, shifting it from pure strategy, to a bit more of a lighthearted fun game to be played with a friend. I have a friend who constantly wants to play chess with me, but I'm not in the mood for the heavy thought that is required. This would work as a genuinely great alternative! If I were you, I'd definitely try to polish this game up and get it posted somewhere. Or I could also totally see this as a real board game too. Reminds me of a chess alternative I own called "No Stress Chess" (basically cards drawn and in your hand dictate your moves). Overall, really enjoyed the idea!

Looks like there is a lot of interest in playing against a bot. I considered both online multiplayer and bots for this submission, but ran out of time for either. Given Min-max with alpha-beta pruning only work for games without hidden information, does anybody have suggestions for how to make an AI for this? I figure that the AI can't really plan ahead using a search tree if the pieces roll randomly.

Also, I was thinking that the balance of the game may be better if the players reroll the pieces at the end of the tern instead of the start. That way the opponent can have a reasonable amount of time to react to the sudden change in the board state. Any thoughts?

I selected on my king, transformed it into a pawn, lost and laughed stupidly. Best laugh I had playing chess x).

That's a good idea, and I love the fact that you balanced it so not all pieces can turn into everything. It's an interesting twist, congratulations !

Great idea! Please add a bot after the jam, I would love to play against it.

Cool idea to freshen up chess. Would love to play against a bot (Though this is obviously not possible to do in 50 hours)

Interesting concept, very very different from original chess. I could see a refined/polished version of this could be something cool :)

This was a surprising and fun game mechanic. I would really like to see this expanded into a full and polished version of Chess!

Im not sure if I understood what was happening properly, when rolling the white pieces they often did not change to what it should. But I love the premise!
