Nice work on the graphics! The game was a little confusing at first, but eventually I managed to handle it and it was quite fun. I especially enjoyed the second map.
Still not sure exactly how the merge mechanic works, with bars that are added or removed, and the abilities that are sometime kept... Also, F is not very easily accessible, I think right click could have been used instead. :)

the system works like this:
You have a slow health regeneration, but the enemies, especially the rifle enemies, hit you pretty often. So therefore you take them hostage and use them as a shield to regenerate your health and use their weapon/ability while you do so. They still can take damage and when they loose all their HP you drop out of them with your own health. Thats why there are 2 circles around you. To display your own HP and the controlled enemy.
Incredible work for a one-week jam! The graphics and sounds were all well done.
The screen shaking while shooting was a bit much -- I started to get nauseous a few minutes in. It would have been nice to see different attacks or more types of enemies to merge with, but given what you two did already I realize that's asking a lot!

Yes those 2 things have been in focus for some time. But the shake moved out of scope since we had to finish up other things.
It was planned to make more enemy types but in the end we didnt have time to make it for the state of the game since it would have increased balancing problems.
Great graphics. Too difficult for me even on easy, high score of 195. Usually I die before merging is possible, and when it is I can't seem to do it and die in the process.

well you should keep moving and use the map to your advantage. We enforced the old shooter games style which is strafing to dodge hits on yourself. You can also zoom out by scrolling so you actually have your whole screen to select an enemy you want to merge with. This allows you to even get over corridor gaps.
if you have a mouse you can set up hotkeys i would recommend you to set F on one of them. It makes it easier for you to do the merge.
The Mac client doesn't seem to start the game when i press "Start Game".
Hey, Sorry to hear that. In fact we never made this game in mind to work on mac. It was more like a gamble "would it work" well it is required to provide a mac build but we couldnt even test it ourselves.. soo .... sorry again.
I'm sorry about that. I guess it is the same problem the Linux version had, but I can't compile the export templates for Mac OS so I had to rely on what I found online.

Besides this beeing a prototype and lacking performance which is no problem due to that, i have to say.... holy moly. This beeing done in 1 week is very good. I would have loved to have more maps and even more variation of enemies. The theme of taking control over your enemy to use them as your shield body and their gear is awesome.
My highscore is 12390 and i survived around 20 minutes on easy. This thing is challenging but also fun.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, we can get around why the performance is lacking. The VRam usage is really low actually. It is probably more of a CPU issue which we couldnt find out to improve on before submission.
Very impressive! Unfortunately I do not see the cursor, so shooting is hard and I have not been able to do any merges :-( Could that be a bug? Playing under windows.
Still, got to a high score of 385 :-)
This really seems to be a bug we never had. If this even happens if you restart. I would say you should try to clean up the game and unpack it freshly. There are some user files under: \AppData\Roaming\Godot\app_userdata\Project Merge, just delete the "Project Merge" folder.
Otherwise it is possible to play without merging, but it will be super hard as you probably got to experience already.

The game was fun and original in my opinion. I liked the way you implemented the merge mechanic. Also the visuals were stunning!
