Oooh boy! So this... At first I was frustrated with the controls and almost gave up immediately, but thankfully I kept trying until I got a hold of it. And I find your game freaking awesome! I was plunged into this feeling of wanting to do better, you know this feeling when you don’t know if your still enjoying the game, but you have the need to beat it and when you get to the end of a level, you have this big release of dopamine. Really this has potential to be a really cool, full game. Just one thing: FIX THE PHYSICS. If you don’t do so I will find your address, get into your place, steal your computer, get the code and fix it myself.
Wow, Thank you very much! I'm almost 100% sure that I'll keep working on it, and if I do, my first task will be to fix the physics/movement. So no need to track me down or anything. Although that would save me the trouble of coding...
I really enjoy it, even though I didn't get how to play at first. I like the graphics and the music (this one is a little bit loud)
I didn't actually understood how to play it, maybe Im missing something ? I loved the graphics and sound, great concept!
Thank you! You play with the keyboard and mouse, aim with the mouse to a direction and click with left/right mouse to make you fly to the opposite direction. You use WASD controls to move on the ground. If everything works properly, that's what should happen.
Hey this is a really cool concept! There's a lot of really nice things going on here, and I love the music and visuals.
I feel like one major quality of life improvement you could make to make the controls feel a lot better is to utilize the move_and_slide() function (or something similar) to make the character feel less sticky and to give the game more momentum. Eventually I gave up on the second level because I would run into the ceiling or a wall and just get stuck, even though it feels like I should be shooting upwards along it. It was just a tad frustrating. The move_and_slide() for KinematicBody classes in Godot is designed to prevent collision objects from getting stuck like that, so if you're moving at a diagonal angle and run into a wall it will still let you slide along it at the vertical speed of that diagonal. Hopefully that makes sense.
Also it would be nice if the cursor was locked inside the window to prevent misclicks outside.
I definitely appreciate you making this available for linux though, the concept sounded interesting and I really wanted to try it! ^_^
Thank you for your feedback!
The reason i didn't use move_and_slide() is because I used a RigidBody for player movement. It made things a lot easier to code, but now I regret using it, its the same reason why moving on the ground feels so weird. I'm really interested in going back on this game, so I definitely try to use a KinematicBody instead next time. Thanks for the advice!
Ahhh yes that makes sense, I honestly have pretty minimal experience with RigidBody stuff so I can imagine implementing that kind of sliding behavior would probably be a lot different. I would definitely like to see an expansion of the concept though!
nice game!! fun to play, but sometimes controls mess up. you should probably export for other platforms.
Thank you! I just did export for other platforms, don't know why I haven't done that sooner.
Hey, what platform is this for? Linux?
It is now for linux as well!
Very nice! I enjoyed the visuals and particles :) Most things run smoothly, except the sound stutters a bit sometimes.
The WASD controls were not that great in my experience. Often I got stuck onto the floor (sometimes even completely hidden underground in the first level). Personally, I found it hard to control the character accurately and having a "one hit kill" arrow shot with 4 archers was a bit demotivating. I did not manage to finish the game.
Hey, thanks for the feedback!
I do know that WASD controls are a bit wonky, I couldn't really fix it on time. Sorry about that.
To be honest, the game was really hard for me too. That being said, I had fun designing levels for this, so I think I might do new ones with a better difficulty curve.
Thanks again!
