Good work! I wish it had a tutorial to teach me stuff. I am such a noob when it comes to these kind of games. I am sure others with these type of simulations would have no trouble following though.
Yes, it would have been nice to implement a proper tutorial, thanks for playing the game.
Great start! I think a clearer UI with obvious buttons would help a bunch.
I think this will be a huge game when done. You impressed you got so much done in the jam time. All motions work smoothly so I think the base mechanics are good.
Thanks for the kind words. I was worried I hadn't got enough done and nearly didn't submit it so your comments made me glad I did :)
Loooooove Civ and related games! But it's a super hard genre to do for a game jam: so many systems and UIs need to be in-place before you can do anything interesting. In any case, I'm impressed you were able to pull off as much as you did within the time limits of the jam. Hope you stick with it, just because I want another 4x game to play. :-)
Thanks for the encouraging words :)
Anything I would critique I'm pretty sure is due to the time constraints of being in a game jam and nothing with the game itself. Basically you can expand cities infinitely without consequence and the only research you can do is the building research, yeah? I'm a big fan of Civilization and other 4x games, so I'm certainly interested in a smaller, byte sized game that doesn't take 8-12 hours to finish map (even though I love the long games, too).
