Omg that was bizarre and I loved every minute xD

Art was perfect for the creepy atmosphere and story, the characters were memorable, and that's a tricky kind of game to pull off in a short amount of time! A lot of nice little clues and nudges really helped to make this game come together and make it so the player doesn't feel stuck, so major props there. The writing was hilarious, and the little notes all around were well done.

I did get a bit confused and didn't realize that searching the containers was essentially like saying "I think it's this person!", so I ended up playing a lot of the arcade game to calm my heart xD after needlessly searching. I think also I didn't realize I could search Queenie's bed until right at the end of the game, so I thought it was just the lunch bag or the trash can were my search options.

41k damage in a single hit lol ^^ Very creepy game overall.

I would say that it was pretty different from the games I typically play, but it had me hooked until the end. The writing was well done. The sound design was great. And I felt the artwork was very well done overall. The vibrant use of colors mixed with the bizarre choice of features for the NPC's was a bit jarring at first. But you eventually just get used to it.

I can't really critique the art or any aspects very confidently given that I'm a pixel artist. But I liked the color use and consistency in overall design. In terms of criticism, I would say that the art could have used more shadows all around. Not so much on the NPC's, because they did have a good degree of shadowing. But the furniture and environment could have used the shadow work to help better contrast against all the bright colors.

Hope the review is helpful! ^^

Thanks for playing! How on earth did you manage 41k damage???

I dumped 250+ points into Humor lol. I noticed pretty early on that it scaled nicely, and the other abilities were less optimal. I'm a min/max'er in games. ^^;

Hey, thanks for the kind words and the feedback! Agreed, the environment might benefit from shadow, I'll keep that in mind for next time! xD

Love the art. Very much reminds me of "Simpsons Pictures I Gone and Done" in it's charming, but creepy nature.
I thought the overall tone of the game was great, and the inclusion of the Pokemon minigame's "lawsuit" attack got a laugh.
As did Paul, upon first seeing him.
Really good job with this.

Developer

Haha, that is lovely to hear xD Thanks for playing, I'm glad it made you laugh!

Good, weird fun. Best line: "I'm a vegetable, not an organ! Let me out!".

Weird fun == best fun :D. Thank you for playing!!

What a lovely comment! Thanks for playing :))

I enjoyed the mystery story of who took the heart. The dialogue was great, as well as the pokemon-esque mini-game.

It was a fun experience.

Developer

Thanks for playing!! I'm glad you enjoyed it xD

lol this game was ridiculous in the best possible way. I enjoyed watching the mystery unfold and the writing/dialogue was great. I got pretty wrapped up in the mini game and eventually had a pretty overwhelmingly powerful character that could just one hit kill everyone. Great submission!

Developer

Haha I'm really glad you got into the minigame. It actually took way longer to code than the rest of the game... (and is several times more lines of code) :D Thanks for playing!

I'm scared by the speach of... ok no spoiler... enphasis, emotions, too pathos for my heart!!!

Thanks for playing!!! xD

Such a great game. Lots of fun playing, but I can tell there was a lot of fun while making! Awesome job.

I really enjoyed the artichoke heart joke, this really had a silly nostalgic feel. You really captured the point and click adventure game charm and feel.

Developer

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it was hilarious to make.. we got a little carried away with the silliness :D

Really love the funny quirky dialogue (also think your cockney accent was on point!). Such an odd and strange environment in a good way kinda like a comedy sketch. Loved how the music sped up with your hearts BPM. In my opinion I would have chosen a more subtle lead melody sound for the music as it can be a bit too much your face as it is a game with a lot of text and requires the player to concentrate a bit . But all in all really well done to the entire you and your team!

Developer

Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent point about the music - I always struggle with music choices  - something didn't feel right with this and your comment is on point.
I'm very happy that you liked the dialogue (despite all my typos. Oops)! This means a lot to me. I actually had to scrap my initial plan quite late into the jam -  I wrote an entire theatre style stage play for this but I couldn't figure out how to implement it using my dialogue system so re-wrote it. Again, thank you so much for playing and commenting; much appreciated!

Not Bad

Developer

HAHAHAHA! Well done for solving the crime!!!!

Played it, everything was extremely confusing XD Liked it, but would've wanted a lot more direction on what to do.

Also the reduction of heartbeat you get from the minigame should be much higher
