Fun but tricky game. Well done

Submitted

This was hard! As others have said the graphics weren't amazing, but that doesn't really affect the gameplay. I'd maybe look at using free game resources from people like https://www.kenney.nl/assets and https://quaternius.com

But well done fellow first timers!

Thank you for playing! We weren't aware of those resources; grateful for the links!

It's a pretty cool concept, but the art could be a bit better.

You've got some pixel art, some really HD art, and then what seems to be just shapes. All of them look cool on their own but when you put them together it doesn't really fit as well as it could (also it looks like you've left anti-aliasing on for the pixel art which makes it look rather blurry)

The concept is really unique though, and you pulled it off pretty nicely! For a first game jam, this is a pretty good start!

Developer

Thank you for playing! And for the feedback, I agree with all you've said. Next time I will try to get an artist on board ^^

The "object slows down if you're close to it" thing is an intuitive, yet surprisingly versatile mechanic, and the first world shows it off well. The burgers did nothing when collected...and that's great! It's fun to collect things for the sake of collecting them, it doesn't have/need to be anything more than that. I also liked the title/end screen art. Overall, I did have fun with it.

If you are looking to improve it, here's my gripes with it: The second world is kinda lame, as the optimal play is to just wait until the walls turn off and the in-game visuals in general are kinda ugly.

Thank you for playing, and taking time to write the feedback. Hopefully our next game will be better! (Now to find an artist!)

Damm, first game? This is so great, congrats for succeeding your first game jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Your game is really tight, awesome for only your second! Let's continue to grow together ^^

Wow! This is my jam's favorite. This was so interesting to play. Level design is superb. Time-bending game mechanic is crazy good!!!  Thanks for free burgers at the end!

Developer

We're blown away by such kind words, especially from such a great developer! Thank you <3

The lasers were pretty hard but I loved the fireballs in world 1. It was a pretty neat mechanic and looked really cool when running through the massive field of dots.

PS: The Skip Button was a good idea ;-) so I could see the levels past the one I just couldn’t win

Developer

Glad you liked the fireballs! I wanted to do more interesting things with the lasers but we just didn't have time. Thank you for playing!

Agreed, the skip button was useful, I should have put a skip and replay in my game

It was a great idea, and it was difficult, but it was really fun!

I was burned by the beam many times, but I managed to clear it!

Developer

Really glad you liked it!

How many burgers did you eat? :D

Submitted(+1)

I probably ate about 13 of them!

I'll confess to sneaking two skips.

Developer

That's fine! That's what it's there for! Thanks again for playing :D

Submitted(+2)

Thank you for the skip button!! Some of these levels are too hard for my feeble rat brain! Great level design, but yes the art and sounds were obviously just there because they had to be. Your priorities really paid off, though. It felt good to play

Developer

Thank you for playing, and for taking the time to comment! It really means a lot :) Next jam I will try to find an artist ^^

you've got some great levels here! Get some better art and you can definitely turn this into a full game

(Also, shouldn't the "mouse controls" button rather be called "rat controls" :P)

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the kind words! I can't get over the feeling of actually helping make a game that is now out in the world! A really hard week but SO MUCH FUN!

Thank you for the pointer on the controls, have edited the description accordingly!

I like how you added a skip button just in case the level were too hard to beat! Not many people do that!

Developer

Thank you for playing! It was originally there for development convenience, but one of the guys thought people might like it =]

Submitted

So true! I should have added one too
