Really good concept.  I realize that you were meeting the requirements of the wild card, but I would add an option to have subtitles for the dialog, and a way to adjust the volume of the sound vs the spoken dialog.  Also the 3d sound is really cool, but makes it hard to understand the dialog at times especially for those who may be either hearing impaired or have hearing loss.

Developer

Glad you liked the concept.  I think the world building/setting was bigger than it needed to be for a jam game and a lot had to be implied.

Yeah mixing the audio in 3d was tough.  Made me appreciate when games transition from in-person dialogue to over the radio and still stay audible.

I had planned to add subtitles but ran out of time and had to cut them.  I assume subtitles wouldn't disqualify the wildcard, but even if so, the accessibility is more important.  My hearing isn't too bad but I watch most  things with subtitles, to help absorb the concepts, so it wouldn't even just be for hearing difficulties.  I think if I do anything this dialog heavy again, subtitles will be higher on the priority list.

Really immersive boat rowing. I didn't know if I could do something to the snake thing, but I enjoyed to explore the world. The camera feels really good too. Nice submission!

Thanks, yeah my original idea was to have 1-to-1 mouse control with the paddle position and I figured out that would get old real fast.  I was pretty happy with how the rowing animation turned out.

A fully voiced 3d game! What a cool game. I love the graphic style and the boat feels really boaty!

Thanks.  Yeah it was tricky but fun to learn the audio system with voice lines in 3d space.  Gives a greater appreciation for why sound design/production is a proper profession.
