A freediving game, really cool concept and great artwork and sound.  Great job.  It would be cool to add some places that you can only get to once you've gathered all 8 of shiny things things.  A longer game would be awesome.

(1 edit)

I too found the controls hard at the beginning.  I feel like it would be easier using a gamepad type controller rather than keyboard controls or if you auto-climbed walls.  Seems pretty well polished considering the creation timeframe.  I don't quite see how it fits into the theme, so an intro or something may help there.  Good submission.

It happens lol - I had so many bugs that seemed to appear just when I thought I was ready to submit lol.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the .pck file was missing from your linux download and I had to grab it from the windows.zip.

Good submission, and I love the concept.  Would be nice to have a way to quit other than closing the window.  Full-screen would be nice on this, as well as a score or something to track how well you did.

Great Submission.  It looks well polished, and I really like the ability to use the stuff you collect for upgrades.  The only thing I felt like the game was missing was a way to gracefully exit the game rather than just closing the game window.

It's not a matter of knowledge of PC gaming as much as accessibility.  I'm aware of how to move with WASD, however it's more difficult to use those keys than the arrow keys at times due to a previous injury.  Not nitpicking btw, I understand that only so much can get implemented in the short time period of a jam like this, and just finishing with a working game is a big success.

Really good concept.  I realize that you were meeting the requirements of the wild card, but I would add an option to have subtitles for the dialog, and a way to adjust the volume of the sound vs the spoken dialog.  Also the 3d sound is really cool, but makes it hard to understand the dialog at times especially for those who may be either hearing impaired or have hearing loss.

Completely understand.

This looks like a promising game.  Glad you submitted it even though it's not complete.

Nice game.  My only complaint is that I wish the arrow keys were mapped as well as the normal asdw keys.  (I know those keys are standard for most of these type of games, but it's nice when both are mapped.)

Hi, your readme.txt in the download doesn't specify the license particulars.  (I was able to find information by looking at the info on itch.io, but you really want to have the license particulars in the readme.txt.)

It seems to hang at the title screen for me (on Linux).

Would love to check this out, but you only submitted a windows binary.

This would have been a-lot more playable for me at least if either the arrow keys were mapped to movement or there was a way to remap the keys.

Good submission - I don't see any obvious bugs from my play-through's.  Wasn't able to beat the Boss, but I see that other's have been able too, so that makes for a good mix of difficulty.  In a game like this, you don't want a boss that's either too easy or too hard, and I feel like you've done a good job at balancing it.  My only complaint is the lack of a way to exit the game gracefully. I had to alt-tab and close the game from the task-bar (on Linux at least).

Congrats on finishing your first game jam.  This was my first one completing as well.  I don't see any bugs, which is great!  My only complaint is that there are some places where it's very hard and unforgiving.  If you miss a single jump in some area's then you are going to loose, but that actually causes a drive to want to play again to get further through the maze.

I too liked the strategy portion of the game.  It's simple, but you have to use strategy to determine when to stop buying at the current level and wait to upgrade to the next level.  My only complaint is that there seems to be no way to exit the game (on Linux at least) other than closing the the application from the taskbar.

Thanks for the input.  I definitely plan to tweak some things and post an update after the review period is over.  Big shout-out my co-contributor Pomelo_02 - he came up with the concept, and he all of the artwork, sound, and sfx other than the forest background.  I'm just glad that we were able to finish and get the game submitted - it's our first game jam submission for both of us.

Looks like you're off to a great start.  If you're a youtuber, then I would love to see some videos of your asset creation process.  I'm more of a developer than an artist, and the graphical composition is always the hard part for me.

Are action type sceens allowed in the game such as the action sceens within your "Your my Hero" game?
