Very nice for your first game jam! :)
There are still some bugs in the menu (i read the instructions, went back and couldn't press any button anymore), and despite the instructions in the menu i didn't really understand what the goal was.
Keep on going! :)
Thanks a lot!
I liked your entry! You definitely have a great and distinct art style! Keep it up!
Thanks!
Love the graphics style - very original, and I think the soundtrack was an original recording too?
Controls and game play were not intuitive though, try to think about how to teach players concepts slowly as they progress.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the soundtrack and sfx were original recordings. gameplay was explained in game info in the game menu. Probably should have made it mandatory to show the info screen before starting the level. Anyway, there are too many bugs, and you cant actually play the game correctly. We ran out of time haha
No worries! Making a game in a week is hard!
Congrats on your first gamejam submission! I like the art style you were going for (fullscreen option would allow better appreciation of it). I think a tutorial (rather than the page of text) would help explain the game a bit better. I did enjoy the slow paced movement around the map, using platforms and ladders feels calmer than double jumps and wall kicks. :)
Thanks for the feedback! Yes tutorial level, and fullscreen were 2 big things that were missing. And the fullscreen one, was an easy fix! but alas, it eluded us
I feel like a fullscreen button would help, you can choose this option on the game submit/edit page.
I liked the idea. I agree the controls could use some tweaking.
Thanks for the input. I definitely plan to tweak some things and post an update after the review period is over. Big shout-out my co-contributor Pomelo_02 - he came up with the concept, and he all of the artwork, sound, and sfx other than the forest background. I'm just glad that we were able to finish and get the game submitted - it's our first game jam submission for both of us.
Congrats on submitting your first jam game :)
The controls were kind of janky, & I got soft locked behind some doors at the end. When it started, I was very confused what I was supposed to do, as the UX & background elements flooded the screen. The level design also seemed convoluted, but maybe it's my fault for not understanding what do. An okay game overall, in my opinion.
