Gameplay is a bit slow for me. World feels a bit large compared to your movement speed and the axe is a bit slow to use.  That being said, I do like the art style of the game and the cabin is nice. Definitely can see how it originally started as a horror game, and it was still creepy. Perhaps some sort of base building / exploratory game with a safe hub could be made from it? Would be interesting to see.

Thanks! Art is usually my weak point so glad to see you and some others liked the art this time round. I will definitely keep your other feedback in mind as well.

The idea is good but I think there is some area the game needs to improve in.
1: Walking feels wrong (maybe to slow)

2: Chopping feels bad (I think it is to slow)

3: The area does not feel cold (maybe a ground texture and some snow would help?)

Thanks! I will keep your feedback in mind.

I really like the art style in this game! The forest has a very spooky feel to it. I think that some 8 bit or MIDI sound effects and music would blend with the graphics perfectly. Like aXu said, looking around is very slow (playing on Windows 10). Also, I couldn't find any way to exit the game besides ctrl-alt-delete.

The game does a good job with the theme. Having to take breaks to warm yourself inside encourages you to relax and observe the fire and the interior of the house.

To avoid the player falling off the world when they go too far, you could add some sort of barrier like rocks, hills or even just a wall of thick bushes and trees.

I think that gathering wood would be more fun if you had to time the axe swings or change where you're hitting the tree with each swing, and in exchange you could chop them down faster. Right now, it can be a bit repetitious since you're just holding down a button.

Good work!

Thanks for the comprehensive feedback! I did plan to have an area trigger or something to inform the player and stop them when they reach the end of the forest, but like I said I ran out of time to implement that. I will certainly bump up the mouse sensitivity and implement audio when I complete the game post-jam, and take into account your feedback on the tree-chopping. Thanks!

Glad I could help!

I liked the idea, but for some reason mouse sensitivity was veerryy low, making just turning around a chore. Aesthetics were nice :)

Thanks! May I know what platform you were playing on? I only managed to playtest it on Windows, and due to time I couldn't add in a mouse sensitivity slider.

Windows 10. It may also be, that you simply have your mouse set much more sensitive than mine. Altough I too have higher than average sensitivity, it takes about 5 cm (2in) to move cursor from one side of screen to another.

Very cozy, enjoyed the concept.

I can definitely see the horror game original scoping however I think this actually works in the games favour. The eeriness of the outside forest adds to the safety and cosiness of the cabin. It's a shame that you were not able to add sound in time I think it would have really added to the spookyness, but it's a fun concept I like it :)

Thanks!
