Neat concept! We tried to do a rhythm-like mechanic in an old jam so I know how fiddly it can be to get music and code to cooperate. I agree with some other comments that sometimes it feels a bit out of sync, but I think it's a pretty good entry especially if this is your first jam. nice job.
Eyyy a rhythm game! I think you did a good job on this! It's a little out of sync, but I understand that it was probably quite fiddly to get it just right.
I get that hitting the right notes makes those particle effects, but I think it would have been clearer for players to know they hit a note if the notes just disappear completely at the same time as the particle effects happen. The way they carry on falling and fading away still makes it look like you missed the note!
Lol the cats eating the falling sushi is cute. Great artwork/music.
Thanks! <3
I didn't make the music tho, it is from a viral meme video.
Loved the idea, just two things: I think the music and the taps are a bit out of sync, and I got a weird bug (?) where it told me I got 2930 points in the top corner but it was 2830 in the end screen. Might have missed something though.
Didn't realize that, gonna check it later to see what went wrong.
And yeah, the sync was poorly done to roughly match the tempo of the song, but they slowly drift away, then go back, etc. It was a bit challenging for me dealing with the time of animations / song.
Thanks for the feedback!
I think a little bit of extra time is required to learn the needs of this one. I didn't really get great feedback for hitting good notes versus total misses and nonPresses.
Learn from this, and come back in December!
For sure, getting both in sync was a challenge, had to go with it given the time available.
Thanks for the feedback!
neat little cat guitar hero game! Would have liked the songs to be divided up into stages maybe to be able to replay them individually haha
Thanks!
Yeah, it would've been better if it was split. The song was the only thing I didn't make myself, it is from the viral meme of the cat playing keyboard, that's why there is this pauce between the 2 songs.
It fits really well with the jam theme! I noticed that depending on how accurately you hit the keys’ rhythm, you earn a different amount of points. I wasn’t able to discern if there was a visual difference, so introducing a more noticeable one (similar to the “good” and “perfect” texts in Guitar Hero and Stepmania) would greatly enhance the experience!
Yeah I intended to do it at first, but it was hard managing time xD
The only visual indication is the amount of particles that spawn after hitting the note, but it is only really noticeable from "Fine" (5 particles) to "Perfect" (75 particles). "Good" spawns 15 particles, but it is strangely similar to "Perfect".
Thanks for the feedback!
I like the adaptation of a rhythm game. It's a good start to learning! Keep going!
Thanks!
