What the Duck, Dynamic Perspective

Game Description
The scientists have been running cruel experiments on you, enhancing your natural duck abilities. Turn their science against them and escape the lab!

How does your game tie into the theme?
Most of the game's environments are dark, requiring light to navigate. The player character emits light, but their light decays over time, requiring them to replenish it by eating algae during the course of play.

This was a treat! It took me a bit to figure out a few things here and there, but that is what makes a metroidvania fun isn’t it? I really appreciated being able to use the unstuck feature when I was completely turned around.

I had fun playing this! I liked the sounds a lot :)

I got stuck in the dark a few times for a little too long. But overall I had fun. Nice work :)

Huge fan of this game. My only real gripe is that space isn't jump. lol That kept throwing me off. LOVE the aesthetic, the art, the environment, the vibe. Y'all did an amazing job and made a really fun game in the process. The quack with the laughing in the background had me dying. Nice work and glad you had fun making it.

I like the mechanics in this one! Also the graphics has very nice flat style and great animations. I really like the fact, that the quack sounds are self made, they are very funny. Even though i cant do it till the end!

I spent the whole game quaking just to hear the one where there is a guy craking up at the end. I laughed every single time.

Kuddos to the person who made the art, because it is really good. The envirorment was so well put together and packed with cool sprite work. Very good game, congrats to all involved :)

Overall a solid game.

Positives:

  • Great concept, only played once so not sure if map is random like most Metroid-vania games, but great all the same.
  • Loved the level up abilities and the counter abilities when get the level ups.
  • Puzzles  seemed well thought out and kept me entertained

Critiques:

  • Would be nice to see [Pause] something other than [esc] key so the browser doesn't go out of full screen mode
  • Would like to see options in the pause menu to be able to adjust Volume of Quack and Music mid game without losing progress.
  • Movement seems a little "locked in" sometimes like it gets confused between the actions.. If I just ate algae for instance, then the next action might not want me to lay an egg.

Solid game so far, and I definitely will play more. Kinda reminds me of old-school Glider for Hypercard.
