Wow, you are good at making strategy games, it seems! Love the art style and music. And the game is very original and fun. I can tell a lot of thought went into the troop types and game mechanics.

Developer

thank you! That is very kind of you to say :)

I loved this game! I don't even know anything to complain about, it's amazing how I didn't wanna stop playing. Just to have it registered, the best strategy I found was to put the king in a corner and surround it by 3 regular ducks at the start, then throughout the match I'd move one of them out and put another one in the same place during the same turn, in such a way that I can take some ducks around the arena while keeping the king's defense at all times and rebuilding it regularly. I feel way you designed it just allows for a great amount of variety and it's not only super polished but also really fun!

Thank you for playing! I’m glad you had fun :)

That is a smart strategy!! I hadn’t thought of doing that haha

OMG I really liked this. Definitely reminded me of some Strategy based boards I used to play!

Pros:

  • Fun loony-toon-esk music and art style, kinda reminds me of JackBox
  • I like the initial Tutorial
  • Feels super flushed out and clean
  • Loved the board game approach - reminds me a little of Stratigo

Critiques:

  • Add a sound to the SFX volume adjust so we can preview the volume adjustments?
  • [Accessibility] - Instructions should probably be at the base level Menu
  • No apparent way to reset if the game gets locked in moves (See Screenshot)

Was enticed to play by the cover art, looks super interesting. The tutorial feels very well made. I love the animation for the flowing river and the horn toot very nice hehe. I didn’t quite get the significance of the king placement at first, but it was I think showing affected tiles would be helpful before placement. The game is so much fun once I started getting the hang of it. I ended up playing if for quite a while. I love the evolving strategy as new power ups and ducks are unveiled and unlocked. The enemies changing forced me to change my strategy as I played as well, which is great!

Overall fantastic game! I think this is my favorite game so far. All the best for the jam!

I actually had some fun with this for a few levels, then the fact that I am terrible at these kinds of games kicked in and I quickly lost. The art and sound are very nice and the explanations of how to play were easy to understand. I might actually try playing a few more times.. Maybe this can be my gateway to enjoying stuff like this!

Really liked the game, I know how hard it can be to make a strategy, but you nailed it during a jam, so congrats!

Pretty fun game, I did encounter some bugs when trying to select ducks before the ducks had finished their turn e.g. like one encountered below, and another where the visual of the duck was stuck between the tiles. No game is bug free though and you did a good job with this one, I enjoyed the mechanics and the graphics were charming too.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I needed to spend a little longer on locking/unlocking the duck dragging.

This game is pretty entertaining, Spend a few minutes than I plan to play the game and it was totally worth it! Love how the game is super simple and you can learn to play it on the get go.

P.S. the duck sound effects were AMAZING!

Cheers!

Wow that was so much fun! Game mechanics are pretty easy to understand and the ducks and the quacking were really cute. Love the pin board UI. Good job!

Fun addictive game! Loved the look and mechanics.

I encountered a bug, I think I was trying to move a duck right after clicking next turn and it led me to stalemate lol.

 Great job overall!

Developer

Oh interesting! Thanks for letting me know :) I think the signal to block movement after the horn must not be working properly.

Glad you enjoyed it :)

This is incredibly complete. The sounds, the details like the visuals on the horn honk, the ART, and the consistency in the design with the story, it all feels so professional and polished.

This kept me absorbed for a long time. I thought I was OP on my 3rd run, once I had the extra health and extra gold trinkets. But on the 4th map the geese with the books would instakill anything they spawned in next to, and it was all over.

Great work!
