This was a super fun game. Has a ton of potential and I am excited to see where it goes.
Pros:
Critiques: (I know there are a lot here, I see it more like a checklist... I really want to play this one more, especially with more features)
I know there are a lot of things that you are working on still in this game, and for the theme you did amazing. Personally I don't consider this an MMO with the way you have it set up... but I definitely think it has the potential to be an MMO. Too many things right now make feel more like a glorified single player, but with chat... Kind of like how NMS started out. All in all though, super fun, and I can't wait to see more. (Also: out of curiosity, what is the server load like per player? With the view distance between players so low, it makes me feel like there is heavy demand if that view distance was increased?)
I would love to see a donate button on your game page especially for this game -- I would definitely contribute towards it where I could. - Great work!
I am not going to list all the things missing as I am sure you are well aware of most of them and of course the game would be "better" with more mmo things. What you were able to do in the time frame is amazing!
Gliding from the mountains was really fun for me. I did not get to talk to the duck.. I was shunned.. but had some help from players in game with how to get around.
This is really cool and ambitious, but– I couldn’t manage to get out of the tutorial zone?
Just about every jam entry from Vela can be described with the following words: "the madlad actually did it." This time might just be the zenith of the madness, because "let's make an MMORPG for the jam" has been a running joke for the last six years. And yet... the madlad actually did it.
Very cute graphics for this game, I wandered around the main island for quite a bit. Currently the level up doesn't seem to increase anything other than health so there's not much incentive to fight slimes. Great job on making a working MMO though! And I always appreciate games that add character customisation.
Also glad to see you made it in! Game works ok for me, up until teleporting to riverside/riverdale? then the game is stuck...
