Dodged my way to round 10 and it was immensely fun! It felt great to slash various enemies in a single attack or to barely dodge a hit in a tight angle, would suggest maybe giving the player a small time bonus based on how fast they complete a round so they're incentivized to do their best each round if they're trying to get as far as possible on repeated playthroughs. (My case since I got hooked)

Thanks for the fun experience!

Eyyy! Way to make it to round 10! That's my highest, too. One of my playtesters was a legend and somehow made it to round 15... 😭 He's better than me at my own game.

Thanks for the idea! I'll definitely consider that and other ways to encourage performance on repeat plays if I take this further. Also thanks for playing! I'm delighted you enjoyed.

You've found a great game loop that fit the theme really well. The effects were fantastic as I think you should lean into that more with the art style. Overall it was a great experience!

Thanks for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed! Definitely agree on the art style; visual art is not my strongpoint. My goal in this jam was to create a highly polished, entertaining gameplay loop that embodied the theme and had great feel. If I take this further, I'd collaborate with an artist friend to shore up my lack of skill on the visual side.

Simply Genius the concept of dying to kill enemies, it fits soooo well with the samurai theme. Amazing job in this game!

One small problem I had was with the wall jump mechanic, sometimes I was defnelly not in a wall and started to do the "wall climb" animation. Ngl that I laughted a little in this situations, was really funny.

Would love to see some secondary objectives (Such as an kill 3 enemies with one attack and receive an small bonus) in the game as well as some new enemies (I don't know if there is more and I am just bad because I survived 3 waves).

This game was really fun do play and really well designed! Special shoutout to the VFX, that looked really professional. Congrats man!

Oooo dang I love the idea of side goals, almost like the daily objectives in The Finals. Anything that gives another layer for the player to shoot for and mixes up their playstyle. There's only the one enemy for now, but I heartily agree that more would make for a better experience; I was desperately trying to get another one in before the jam close, but the execution was buggy and thus not up to my quality standards for the submission. Alas!

Curious about the wall jump mechanic animation starting while not in a wall. There's a few bugs in this build, but I hadn't seen that one yet. I'll try and fix it if I keep going on this project. Were you even close to a wall when the bug happened?

Thanks for playing and thanks for the kind words, Friend!

If I remember correctely only my feet was in the wall and them the entire character started sliding (part in the air haha). I think was something like that that triggered the wall climb anim.

This game was really funny to play, friend, hope you keep going with your carrer. Can't wait to play more of your creations in the future!

think of pacman if it was a platformer game

Haha! I would've never thought to make that comparison, but I can definitely see it with the cat-and-mouse-style gameplay loop.
