Very fun use of Maxwell. There is a lot of potential in the mechanics of this game. The space ship was hard to control, not game breaking though. You did an excellent job incorporating the theme of the jam and humor into your creation.
Great work on completing your project, even if all the features you wanted to implement didn't make their way into the final game. That's the nature of these jams! But i think your gravitational mechanic is really promising... there's a lot that can be done with that, and I think Maxwell is obviously a sympathetic character we must endeavor to protect :D
For me, I had a hard time with the ship controls, and considering that Maxwell also consumes his protection, it becomes impossible at some point to fend off the Chonker due to having to run off and collect new beans. I might have liked some interesting sound effects for the gravitation effects. I also felt at times that i was not comprehending where the launch point was for the repulsion effect... Overall, a fun experience and boppy music :D
I really like the idea behind this game! Although, I feel that the controls are not quite responsive enough. I found that I was helpless to stop the big Chonker over and over again. Even when I finally felt like I was getting the hang of the controls and managed to hit it with some beans, it barely moved. The whole experience is somewhat frustrating. I think that it could be fixed with a few changes. I'd say the most important thing is to make the repulsion send all the beans forward instead of simply outward. There is currently little reason to send the beans in all directions and a lot of reason to fire them all in the same direction. Also, it would be appreciated if the mouse could be made invisible and locked to the center of the screen. It got stuck on the bottom of the screen at one point. After all these criticisms, don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed what the game had to offer. Good job!
Thank you for the feedback! I originally intended that people use boosting to move around most of the time, and made other movement used for precise positioning. This was definitely an oversight as I designed the game around something that didn't really demand precise movement. Also, I should have made a tutorial for this, but the most effective way to hit The Chonker is by gathering a large amount of beans, then quickly back up to put the crystal behind the beans, and then shoot them. But looking back, there definitely were better ways to do this. Thanks for playing!
