10/10 action sequences, visuals and a clever, brutal plot twist that you rarely see in JRPG's much less implemented mid-battle.
Very well done and it was a joy to see more badass artwork of Oldhar and his companions + the story of how they came to be. Fantastic entry overall :)
I gotta admit, I was pretty lost on what to do until I read some of the comments here. Once I figured it out though, it was a very simple and straightforward experience. The visuals were off-the-charts awesome!
Another cool entry, Nowis!
Thanks for playing, KV!
Combat felt more like a cinematic than actual combat, but I’m sure that’s the point so that’s not really a big deal. And the end cinematic combo skill was well done. Now a few nitpicks:
Thanks for playing! Yeah, rookie error with potential of the event blocking the player movement haha!
Oh, I love that title screen callback. It took me a couple of tries to realize what I should do, but once that happened everything was smooth sailing.
The action sequences and in particular that final team up were amazing! The ending left me very fearful for Reid and Priscilla (run, you guys, run!)
Edit: Forgot to mention, but I really appreciated that the game allowed me to retry the battle without going through the whole scene again.
Thanks for playing, Slim!
Excellence: From a distance, fairly straightforward and short. Nothing actively detrimental though.
Combat: At first I thought this was one big unbalanced and unwinnable boss fight. I looked around for other souls on the map. And then I realized they were in my party. Jaw dropped right then and there.
Comedy: Not very comedy heavy, but the concept of killing your own party to win a fight is really funny in a twisted way.
Sound: Default RTP stuff; middle of the road.
Visuals: Best use of RTP graphics so far; the action sequences were phenomenal, especially that final move. The custom art is great too; cool seeing your art appear in another Harold jam.
Story: Really cool idea but unfortunately weighed down by brevity.
Super super clever entry, really loved it once I figured out what was going on.
Thanks callmeDJ!
Hey Nowis! Solid entry overall. I super knew it was coming.. more power!! haha great job :)
Thanks for playing, Loch!
Yes, I too was stopped at the dragon.
I got a lot of jams to go through still or I'd have maybe tried to find the 'trick' to this thing.
it was a game. I played it. it has game play.
Combat was pretty, and pretty unbalanced. While it looked amazing fighting only the dragon, repetitiously, was like opening a bunch of beautifully wrapped gifts, only to find more empty boxes. Funny for you, disappointing for me.
Voices from a sword is interesting. I wish more depth was given here.
Sound was OK.
Visuals were pretty in the fight. Maps were not empty.
Wish there was a story past the premise.
Thanks for playing! Hhaha yeah at the end of the day it is a just a gimmicky fight with very little plot and story XD
Concentrated awesomeness. A prototypical jam submission. Feels so good to play! Combat is arguably irrelevant, but it doesn't matter! Those skills look spectacular and the ultimate is top tier action sequencing.
Thanks Human, finally a place for my convoluted ultimate skill action sequence!
Those action sequences. Dang!! Great use of "hitstops" during impact.
The polish and visual appeal were very high. The gimmick was interesting and thankfully it didn't take me too long to catch on (or so I tell myself, heh).
Good experience. Wish there was more, but it wasn't incomplete per se just small in scope.
Yeah, the hitstop effect is definitely a cool addition to action sequencing! Thanks for playing Moogle.
Couldn't get past the dragon as it Dragon Flares me for 5x more than I got in max HP. Keeps saying I need more power but there's nothing to interact with and the menu will not pull up. I hit space on every tile in that room to check as well in case I missed something.
I was playing browser version for reference, so it could be a bug in that version.
It's subtle, but you have all the tools needed to complete the game.
Haha thanks for playing Bg! I saw on discord you eventually got past it. I did secretly hope some players get stuck playing it as regular RPG (maybe some poor sense of what I find amusing haha).
Short, simple but well executed entry with a nice twist in the combat.
Animations & event sequences for the battles are the best thing about this entry and well done and timed.
There is an easy soft lock at the start where i went behind the sword and the move route event softlocked me to restart as it required the character to move down.
Ah the good old 'forgot that players can interact with it in other directions' soft lock. I'll be sure to fix it after the jam is over. Thanks for playing!
