Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it :D There is a timer running, it's just hidden ;)

Oh, so sorry to hear about the tutorial bugging out! Do you happen to remember what you did? I just played through it and it worked fine on my end. And yeah, there's an issue where if you click on the cash register while one of the customers is leaving, it bugs out the next one.

I definitely like the idea of adding the empty cup to the HUD when you pick it up. Oh wow, did no one ask for pancakes? There's a small QTE that pop ups if you click on it (assuming you have the necessary dough).

Thank you! I'm not sure there will be a full expansion, but there were some things I wanted to add that I didn't get to. So who knows :D

Thank you KV! I'm glad you liked. :3

Yeah, detective games are very hard. I had some difficulty coming up with... everything actually, and so I decided to go and borrow from Clue.

Thanks for playing, DJ! I got Beethoven's number if you need it :P

And yeah the transitions could be better. Definitely wil look into that.

I'm glad you enjoyed the writing and the "combat".

PS:  The killing demon by talking is a reference to The Amzing Shockingly Origin of the Hero Harold

Thank you for playing, Human! I'm happy you enjoyed it!

You didn't miss anything, the final two are the correct answer. I'll probably change it to say 18 out of 18 to avoid confusion.

Yes, 18 is the final number, with the last two being the correct answers. Maybe I should change it to 18 out of 18.
Reid is young, so everything excites him. :D

Thank you for playing!

Thank you for the kind words! You almost got all of them, there's technically only 18 clues (with the last two being the murderer and the murder weapon).

I'm curious to know who you picked out, if you still remember. :)

(1 edit)

It was like 'Ney Reid' instead of 'Hey Reid'.  (Albert said that twice, so now I'm wondering if that's intentional)
Roza says something along the way of 'someone's gonna keep you in check' and I thought it should be 'gotta keep you in check'.
There also was either wrong punctuation/missing capitalization in Reid's first response after Roza and Albert's flirting.

Love the art and I like the music (when there is music), but the intro feels so slow, partly because the text speed is super slow and unskippable and partly because well I felt really lost with all the Trihan and the Sisko scenes.

I was really disappointed when it ended. The puzzles were fun, the graphics are gorgeous, the music was a mood. Only issue is that it is too short.

I like the swapping mechanic, although Lucius sometimes walked right into me, making it hard to swap. I like the 3D aspect, made climbing the mountain pretty fun. It's just too bad the trees look so flat.

Aww, that ending was cute. It took me a bit to figure out how to get rid of those walls though. I guess I must not have been paying that much attention to what was said. ^^;

We all need more Sexy Lucius in our life.

That blue screen was horrifying. Otherwise didn't really notice any bugs in particular.

I'm very proud of the fact I helped make this game. 10/10 entry

As always your entries have amazing bust art! I really loved them in combination with the tall sprites and the Lowe battlers. (On that subject I think you forgot to credit Aekashics for the slime king battler?) Your mapping has improved a lot, but it does peg the graphics down from 4 stars to 3 for me.

I didn't see too many issues although Therese's name was spelled as Threse and the credits went by too slow even while holding down to speed it up.

This was adorable. Looking forward to date Lucius in the sequel!

I really enjoyed the story and battle system! This is an amazing entry. The relationship between Harold and Reid is heartwarming.

The graphics in this are amazing! I also loved your music picks. I do need to say that sometimes it took a while to load the BGM and it even stopped at an akward time for about two seconds and then continued. I enjoyed the story both in the main game and the gae within a game.

The battle system was pretty cool, but if you were going for morale defeat, the enemy hung around way too long after hitting zero. Sometimes I had to pick skills for another round even though the enemy was already at 0 morale. That kinda dragged it down for me.

Exactly as it says in the title. Reid walked to the right all the way into my heart.  It's a joke game (though a super elaborate one), so I never really know how to rate these.

I loved all the little things popping up on the map. There were some typos with the Roza&Albert dialogue, but otherwise no bugs that I could find.

Thanks for the feedback, Hawk.

For the QTE it is possible to cancel it in case you accidentally walked on one. (I'll make sure to add that info in game)

Yeah, sorry about that part being confusing. I had a similar 'find the right door' section in my IGMC 2017 entry. That one did have hints, but apparently it was laughably easy according to a stream I watched, so I ended up not including anything at all in Stray Kitten's. I'll have to think a bit to find the right middle ground.

Thanks for the feedback, bg.

I'll see if I can add some hints somewhere for the endings.

Yes, there is a healing skill. You get it when you collect 5 balls of yarn.

Thank you, hiddenone! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Thanks for the tips with the QTEs. I really like the idea of the pointer starting at different places depending on which QTE. I'll definitely add that. The idea of the speed being random is pretty neat too. I'll have to think about that for a bit.

Congratulations everyone!

Thank you very much!

Bennnnnnny! Thanks for playing it <3 I'm happy you enjoyed it. (And it's nice to hear I've improved from last year!)

Also yes, humans speak Wingdings, because kitten doesn't understand human language.

Thanks for playing, erin! I'm happy you enjoyed it.

Thanks for playing! Cats are truly the cutest.

Thank you for the in depth feedback, Drifty! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, there's actual dialogue written for the humans. I've been thinking whether I should make it readable after you get the true ending, but I'm not sure if anyone is *that* interested in it. xD

I've never really messed with the resolution, but I'll look into it.

The QTE slowing down after you made a mistake is on purpose. I wanted to make sure that most people could finish the game. :)

I ran out of time for some proper tutorials, hence the confusion on some things.
Most people have been able to complete the fog without Nightvision, so I'm not inclined to give that skill. (There's also a great way to cheese through that area, by using your mouse instead of the keyboard.) I will look into making an option (in the option menu) that will lessen the fog, so it's easier to see for those who need it.

Since I'm curious, what ending did you get? :D

Oh, okay. The familiars ending is one of the endings I explained in that post, alongside the true ending. For the other ending, try not to use your skills (too much).

Thank you for playing Ronove! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, you're right, it still is a bit hard to see. I'm not 100% sure if I can clear the path, I'd have to check that, but I'll definitely try and make Nightvision more visible.

I'm not sure which ending you got, but I posted how to get two of them at RMW: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/stray-kitten-and-the-magical-la...

Thank you for playing Thund! I'm not sure which ending you already got, but I posted on the RMW how to get some of the endings: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/stray-kitten-and-the-magical-la...

Thanks for playing, Human!

I'm definitely adding a tutorial, it was on my to do list, but I couldn't get it done in time. At the same time, I do want my players to figure some stuff out on their own, so it's tough to balance.

(1 edit)

Thanks for playing and the very in-depth review, KV!

I'll adress some of your points:

  • Yes, the Wingdings text is intentional. As you said, a cat does not understand the human language. (Except maybe when you mention food.)
  • Sorry about the light flicker, I'm trying to get the hang on the lighting system. I felt like I had set the flicker at a really low rate, but I can see how it's still annoying.
  • Yes, it's the red flowers you need to avoid. I'll make that clearer. (I was a bit confused why you mentioned cacti, since there are none in the game)
  • The water jump isn't a false choice. You can force Stray I mean make Stray muster up all of their courage to attempt the jump. The downside being that even on a succesful jump they'll get hurt. That said, it was my speedrun strategy during late game testing.
  • Hmm, maybe I should add the Lantern during those first house puzzles to guide you. It just wouldn't make sense lore wise for Lantern to be there, so I'll have to think a bit more on how to make that clearer.
  • There's no wrong choice to make during the witch scene. Each one just leads to a different type of puzzle.
  • Yes, that's the idea behind the fog maze, it's invisible. If you have the Nightvision skill you can easily get through it. I should have Lantern mention something about it.
  • Which ending did you get?

And then to the biggest point: I'm so sorry for the lack of tutorials! It wasn't a deliberate choice, I just didn't have time to implement a full tutorial. I tried to make some small adjustments to the dialogue, so that it was clear that rebirth = - 1 SP, but it's easy to miss without a full tutorial.

I'm sorry to hear that. The fourth map was the last one (with jumps), so you were almost there. If you failed a jump, the difficulty actually goes back to easy. That way, even if you aren't great at the jumping, you would have been able to complete the game :)

(If it helps, you can actually jump across the river and so cut out a lot of the extra jumps.)

Thanks for trying it out!

Aah, glad that was it. I'll make sure that it's more obvious in the next version.

Okay, that might be the issue. For this scene, you need to use your arrow keys (either right or left) when the timer starts. Please let me know if that works/doesn't work.

What exactly do you do? What do you press during the timer scene? (Left or right or something else?)

Can you open the Credits notepad and post what's in it? You might have an older download that still had a lot of bugs.

A very well done entry with enjoyable puzzles (and then the Factory happens :P). The story was nice, everything matched really well. I was happy there was an option to hack the turrets in the Factory, but I was too stubborn to actuallay accept it. I definitely reloaded a few times (a shame there wasn't a Loag Game option in the main menu), so I didn't have to go through all of that again. (For example, I saved right after I passed the timed turrets, since that was the moment I kept dying and I also saved right in front of the second blue switch in the next room, since I kept dying trying to get back.)

This was a wonderful entry. Looking forward to playing your other one.

This was such a fun and cute game. The maps were amazing, the cast was adorable. I am forever sad I can't spend a night at the Silver Willow Inn. (If I could I would book the Vampire Suite (for the gothic vibe) and the Renaissance suit (for that gorgeous bath).)
