Very fun and creative use of the combat system. Never seen an RPG character cook/fillet a fish mid-combat or fight giant dustbunnies before haha xD

All in all, 'Oldhar's Relaxed Days Off' is a great follow-up to last years entry. You've got the makings of a series here. I'd love to see an expanded/finished version of the game sometime post-jam :)

Thanks for playing, Denkai!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

Hey, this dust battle seems familiar and I still hate it! :D Fun entry overall, with a nice casual feeling to it. No real criticisms other than minor things people already brought up. I gotta applaud you for your interesting approach to battles.

Developer

Thanks for playing, Aesica!

I did tweek the numbers for the dust battle  so it was less annoyibg this time around (at least, I hope it was).

Submitted

Yeah I recall the dust being a lot more hair-ripping in the previous game. (can’t recall if its the one that can also do big damage to you over the duration)

And of course when only 1-2 are left, the aoe sweep is finally ready and…woosh he misses all of them because he’s blind. D:

Thoughts from my playthrough:

  • Idre or Dire. Which is it?
  • Why are there quotation marks around the dialog text?
  • Cute edits of the RTP sprites to make "evil" versions.
  • Grammar error: "all some days off"

Overall I liked it. It's a cute game similar to last year's entry. Nothing too hard or cryptic about it, and doesn't overstay its welcome. Too bad about not getting that ending made, that would have been a nice top off to the experience. Good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing KV!

  • Idre is the name, Dire is the nickname.
  • All my games have those. I know it's a bit of a quirk.
  • Thank you! Though I only made the Idre and casual Oldhar, all the others are by Nowis.
  • What would be the correct sentence then? (The all referred to "you all") Should the "some" just be deleted?

Oldhar gets confused and hurts himself trying to fix an appliance. How relatable! This was a nice follow up to last year. What could you be capable of if you started at jam start!? I can only imagine and hold my breath for next year.

I thought the story was cute and a nice arc/punchline at the end, abrupt or not. And you made Idre the Dire! That was on my secret human wish list and you made it happen. I like your relatively normal version of Oldhar too. Gave me some Disgaea vibes a little. Thanks for another relaxing day of chores!

Developer

Aw, Human, you're too kind! Clearly if I started in time, I would be unstoppable, but alas, it's not in my nature. Maybe for next year's jam, I should make "Harold procrastinates". XD

I really wanted to include Reid Idre more this time around. I initially called him Dire, since it was so cool sounding (Sawyer came up with that one I believe?), but I wanted to keep true to Nowis' naming scheme, so Idre the Dire he became.

Also yes, you're right. I hadn't noticed it myself, but whole vibe really is very Disgaea-like.

Only game where you can cook fish by casting Spark on it. Or sort potions by casting Spark on the entire lot. Nicely done!

Developer

Thanks, bg!

Are you telling me you didn't even try to taste the potions? :P

For some reason the web versions resolution is really low and the fog graphic is very obscuring, i would recommend less opacity.

Light story and simple premise where i get to pummel living rubble and be followed by a demon cat as i clean up.

Overall feeling of the game was consistent and charming throughout!

Use of unique battlers and music was great.

Developer(+1)

Yeah, not sure why the web's resolution is so much smaller than the DL. Regarding the fog: was it still too obscure during the actual gameplay section?

Thanks for playing, Charlotte!

You can set the resolution here, right below the "upload" button. My resolution is pictured here, but if you're using default resolution it should be 816x624.

Developer

Oh, thank you so much!

A worthy sequel to the chore-completing RPG, with a protagonist equally as endearing as harold from last year!

Developer

Thank you, Nowis!

Ran into a game-breaking (no pun intended) bug when trying to use Break on some debris - the battle just froze.

I'll try the download version later just in case it's something funky on the browser version.

Developer

Darn, that sucks. It should not happen in the DLed version, at least I never came across it and neither did other players (so far).

My first rated game and it's good one!

The game play was simple and easy to follow. It did not take too long to find all the tasks.
I liked the potions fight the most! All the enemy GFX were wonderful. Did you make them or find them?
Nothing made me laugh out loud, but most of the dialogue was charming and fit the theme well.
Sound was... eh... the rest of this entry made up for it.
I really liked the looks of everything. All visuals fit the theme and feeling you were going for, and felt cohesive.
I liked the story, it was simple, had a lot of character, and felt coherent.
This was a good little 'snack' of a game and I may come to do the fights again. Lots of interesting stuff there. Nothing too jazzy, but definitely clever!

Developer(+1)

Thanks Snim! Glad you liked it :)
Yeah, sounds were last minute just thrown together. They're always my least favourite thing to do.
All battlers were made by the awesome Thalzon. He has made about a 1000(?) free sideview battlers: https://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?threads/thalzons-mv-battlers.46685/

I'll definitely have to check the battlers out! Thank you.

And I agree on the sound. It's not my first thought when making a game either!
