This was a nice cute platformer. As I've said numerous times already I'm not a big platformer player, but I did find some of the things this tried to be pretty neat.
The controls were mostly easy to get a handle on after the first couple tries, and felt fairly satisfying to successfully grab onto rock. But I do agree the jumping detection needs work.
The music was nice and relaxing, and I loved the cute little "ow!" the character would squeak out when hurt.
Overall, not a bad little platformer, I only made it partway into the second level since I'm kinda pressed for time, but I liked what I played. Good job!
Thank you for your feedback! Useful to know that you and others think something should be done about the controls, I'll definitely work on that.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the audio and player feedback. Thanks for playing!
Well done! I enjoyed the level design and the movement mechanics are fun! The controls need some work, especially regarding jumping. I think you can achieve the same mechanics with slightly different control scheme that is easier to use. =D
I like the pixel art. It clearly conveys the nature of each gameplay element. Good work!
Thank you for the feedback! Others have suggested a change to the controls as well, so I'll likely incorporate an alternate control scheme at some point. Combining the jump and move buttons isn't the most straightforward approach. I'm glad you enjoyed the pixel art. Thank you for playing!
Game mechanics unique, hard to play but very interesting. Cool graphics, friendly music. Good job!
Thank you for your feedback! I'm glad that you enjoyed my game!
Fun Little Game, well designed.
I'm having a little bit trouble "trigger" the Jump. I think you could improve the "Jump" Action. It feels very often that you press Left and Right but he only switching direction and not register the Jump Action.
The Wall Climbing feels super Cool, Nice Levels and very Casual to collect all "Star"s and "Diamonds".
Deserves more Level's
Since i don't like Pixel Art, i suggest a better Visual Style for this Game. But this is very personal i think.
Good work, keep it up
Thank you for playing! Yes, the control scheme isn't intuitive I suppose. As of now pressing right will move the character right if he is walking left, but if you press right while walking right, then he jumps. I previously submitted this game to a two button jam, so the controls carry over from there. I'm thinking about incorporating an alternate control scheme with a third button for jumping.
My pixel art skills definitely need work, but I hope to improve them through this game so I plan to stick with this art style for now. Perhaps in the future I'll look into alternative art styles for 2d games.
Thank you for your feedback!
This is a superb control scheme - it's really unique, but still very intuitive, and provides a fun challenge that I've not seen anywhere else.
The difficulty ramps up pretty quickly, with the opening to the second level being quite a challenge for me, but it always felt fair and gave me chance to recover from most of my mistakes.
The general style is really quite charming, the graphics look great and fit the gameplay and the little yelps the character makes when they hit spikes are adorable.
Had a great time with this!
Thank you for the feedback! This game is inspired by DK King of Swing, so I can't take all the credit for the controls haha. Glad to hear you enjoyed it overall. I hope to move forward with this project if others like it as well!
Fair enough on the controls - haven't played many console games in general, so it was new to me! Still seems really well implemented though, and I had a blast playing.
When I left this comment I'd played without reading the instructions, so wasn't aware you could charge jump. The second level got a whole lot easier once I was playing the game correctly with all the mechanics! I particularly liked the moving blocks in the fourth stage :)
Thanks! Yes I don't think it is possible to get past level 2 without the charge jump. I'll have to add a tutorial or something to make that a bit more clear to newcomers. Glad you enjoyed the moving blocks!
