I had a great surprise when the platform game turned into a hack n' slash. This transition was amazing. I think the game is cool, you can have fun playing it and learning to fight when you are on hack n' slash mode. But there are some issues related to the art direction, For example, the energy balls that 2d enemies throws on you looks so off, it is just like something that came out of a preset and doesn't match the enemies aesthetics. Some post fx looks weird, like the tv screen effect, doesn't sell it and the music seems a little off too. But that's fine, just something to take some attention when making your next game :D anyways, it's a cool game, congrats!
Really well done combat system, I especially liked the 3D combat, all of the attacks felt very satisfying! I think the enemy design could use a little bit of touching up though, both for 2D and 3D. Maybe a temporary invulnerability for the player after being hit might help quite a lot. I think a checkpoint after going from 2D to 3D would've helped a lot too. Enemy design aside though, I loved the animations and environment as well! It all contributed to a strong overall thematic feel. Well done!
I love this game! The hero is brilliantly done is an oh so retro style. Great job submission team!
It's a really very pretty game, there are some nice art assets that remind of me Prince of Persia, but I think I would best describe the 2d-3d transition experiences transitioning from a cool 2d platformer to a different completely unrelated 3d game. It seemed to serve no practical purpose and the angle of the 3d camera was really poor so the transition felt like someone just stole a nice side scroller from me I was enjoying and made me play a 3d Playstation game with awkward controls.
Don't feel bad about it though, this sort of 2d to 3d transition have been tried for years even by triple AAA dev companies and it rarely works out for them. It's tough to pull off. If I were you I would scrap the 3d portion and work on making the 2d side scroller more balanced and faster. Maybe with some way to block or repel enemy fire. I would like to be able to jump a little higher to reach some of the platforms. Above all else though.. speed, Prince of Persia style. Like I think this is a really cool game that just needs to be so much faster and you should be mowing through enemies by the dozens.
I love the idea and its implementation is really good, the transition is smooth. I struggled a little bit with the enemy design in 3D, it was so hard to dodge :D and with starting from the beginning everytime, a little frustrating. Maybe a checkpoint after the first 3D switch.
debuggin display messages in the left top from unreal feels to real haha
Very good. The transition to 3D is amazing. The best game
