This is what we came here, looking for kaiju destroying a city! This game delivers, really enjoyed the music and the style of the game, the destructible environment was impressive to be honest for making this game in such a short notice!

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the encouragement! Cheers!

I really liked the dynamic music, it was perfect for combat. Besides, I liked the movements and abilities of the kaiju! Sometimes I had to get out from under the rubble because the kaiju got stuck.  It's a great game, I liked it!))

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I def have some things to fix with how the collision variables change after breaking as sometimes I would clip through the floor after too much destuction. Thanks again

Wow this was very impressive! The graphics, UI and art fit the kaiju style perfectly and looked great. I loved the destruction system for the buildings too, everything looked so awesome falling apart.

Though, I wouldn't have minded a fun kind of dash that would let you chain buiding destruction together and give even more of a "rampaging" feeling.

Fantastic work with this one though! I would love to see this get extended after the jam.

thank you for playing and thank you for the feedback- I wonder if you sent telepathic signals because I literally just took a walk in the park with a notepad thinking about this jam because I am actually going to put some more work into this game. I wrote down what I want to add to/fix and based on some of the feedback, I wrote down "power smash dash" and overpower status. The rampage destruction is what I totally want to go for with this, so thanks for sharing and validating too. Cheers!

This was a really fun one! you did a great job capturing the feel of a kaiju movie, the destruction was amazing and I really loved the UI and art, you did a great job!

thank you for the kind words and thanks for trying! Cheers

definitely looks the part ^^ awesome graphics and atmosphere !

playability is a little stiff; in games where the player is supposed to feel heavy (like armored core), there is usually a mechanic to regain mobility.

here it could be chaining? jumping ? charging then running?

an impressive piece of work ^^

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! That is a great idea about using some mechanics or actions to get mobility up, and also giving some more cues to the player about what is going on too. I would like to play up the weight aspect better too as it's really important to sell the whole scenario. I think I will revisit this game and try to implement lots of these things I wasn't able to polish for the jam. Thanks again and cheers!

This was really cool, the design were well done, the destruction was great, and just generally the game had a fun arcadey feel.

The only main issues I had was sometimes the game would get really laggy without any obvious reason why. Even more strange is the framerate improved when smashing a building, so there's definitely some optimizing to be done there. But ya know, jam issues.

I also think it would be good if there was a way to heal, maybe by eating some of the humans or something. Because I never really made it all that far without getting ground down by the tanks.

Also more of a subjective take, but I don't like the film grain effect, or motion blur. Disabling those or giving the option to disable them would be a good idea.

Overall though there's a lot to like about this, excellent work!

Developer(+1)

thanks for trying and thanks for the detailed feedback! I def had animations for eating and some behavior prepared but it didn't pan out in time for the deadline (i wanted to be able to eat the humanoids as well as the trees, as a beetle would probably prefer full organic)- I also wasn't able to implement display options which would probably help a lot (like camera cycling, etc.) but certainly the post processing adds a lot of less necessary weight. I ultimately left in the post process stuff because I was watching a bunch of old kaiju flicks in the background while making this and wanted to get into the spirit of those films from that era (so I tried to match with LUT/grain/vignette) but the ability to disable those is def in the mix if I revisit this at all, especially when it costs performance and for people who prefer without (which is probably most people tbh hehe). Thanks again and cheers!

Really loved the music as a big metalhead, and seeing the amount of financial damage I'm doing to this city makes it all the more satisfying to play. The UI and sound design made me nostalgic for arcade games! Lots of fun!!

I was happy to have the opportunity to destroy the environment! And  the design of Kaiju is really great. It would just have been nice to be able to keep the items in hand before sending them wherever you wanted but great work, it was good!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback and for playing! You are totally right, I think that I will try to figure out a logic so that you can hold items and use them as weapons, and decide when to throw them (and maybe make a little target when you are about to throw to aim!) cheers

Great job on the graphics. The Kaiju looks awesome!
The gameplay is very simple but effective. It's perfect for blowing off some steam, hehe!

Thank you! And thanks for playing, also for feedback on the camera/player view in the discord- it made a huge difference, and it was great to get other opinions after being so in a project those things become invisible. Cheers!
