I liked the take on snake, but there is something odd with the controls...

If I press too fast or keep pressed the left/right arrows, it ignores my commands and keeps up.

Developer

Yeah that's my bad, I thought I'd fixed it but didn't have time to look at it again before the deadline. It's because it only checks the input when the tongue wants to move, rather than at any point and storing the input for the next move.

Sweet music :) lpve the sprite for king keru.

I think the gameplay loop is a little easy? Perhaps make it faster/make some of the bugs move. Either way lovely entry

Visually and audibly, the presentation is fantastic. Though I do feel the actual gameplay could use some improvement. Not sure if it's possible, but wouldn't it be cool if when you hit an obsticle, the tongue retraced its steps back to the frog? That would look cool.

The music is so perfect. Great simple concept executed well :)

Cute premise. How does that frog contain all of that tongue?

The music is absolutely solid.

The gameplay drastically improves as it speeds up.

First of all, the MUSIC.  Wow.  I LOVE the music.  I love the fusion jazz FM synth chiptune style.  I stayed on the title screen just to hear the whole song, and the gameplay music was even better.  Any chance you could put up or sell the soundtrack tunes? (Or do I just go to ZBW's soundcloud?)

The gameplay is fun, low stress and easygoing.  The pixel art is nice.  My only complaints: it's initially hard to tell which objects are obstacles to be avoided, but the red outline helps.  The game speed at the start is probably too slow for my taste, but I do like that it speeds up.  The scoreboard is a little hard to read, but understandable considering the limited screen space.

Developer

Best bet is to ask ZBW through his soundcloud :)  and I agree, the music is DOPE!

Cute little entry. Love your frog! Soundtrack is enjoyable and perfect for the gameplay. Something I'd try, is maybe separate the camera scroll from the tongue movement. I think part of what makes it feel a little too slow (and as a result too easy) is when you move the tongue horizontally, the camera stops. This adds no consequences for moving moving long distances left or right. If the camera continued to scroll you are forced into tougher decisions the higher/further you go.  Of course you'd want to make sure to include a system for catching back up with the camera when moving vertically, else you'd eventually be off camera. Another alternative, is the tongue is always moving vertically. Nice entry.

Developer

Ah that's a great idea, thanks!

Very cute! nice sound and music, kinda relaxing. Agree with the comment below, there should be a speed increase with progression. Good job!

Developer

There is, I think it just starts too slow and the speed increase doesn't kick in quickly enough to maintain interest. Every 10 bugs it does get faster :)

It's a nice idea, although it's leaves the question, "How long is its tongue?" XD , nevertheless, well done!

PS: If you have the time play my entry, https://itch.io/jam/lowrezjam-2018/rate/293637

I love the musics, the speed of the game could be a bit faster.
