Did you work in a team?
The game was made solo by yours truly.

Was the resolution a challenge?
The biggest resolution-based challenge was probably the text. Needed to figure out how to convey enough info without it taking up the entire screen.

What did you learn?
Sometimes less is more.

Also, this was my first time ever using Pico-8. I had a blast with it and learned a lot about how to use it.

Challenging game! I included it in my LowRezJam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Definitely a game where secrets are to be discovered if you dedicate a bit of time. Main gameplay was decent but the reveals were really the highlight of the game.

Is it possible to land the craft on the first attempt? I don't think I had nearly enough jet force to do that, and that seems kind of off.

It's a little weird that you have to upgrade the guy in order to be able to land properly. If the game could simply focus on landing the guy, I think you would have more interesting gameplay. You could probably throw out the upgrade system entirely and just do that part well.

An awesome story about breaking the rules! The game is not what it seems at the beginning. Enjoyed a lot!

Alright, this is pretty great. The hint to not listen tipped me off on what to do. I successfully ground out all the gear, and it is a really fun loop and some good silly fun at the end. Well done.

Wow, my first time getting to the strange red eye was a really cool moment. I loved the dialogue of the red eye so much, it was so foreboding and so at-odds with the upbeat feeling of the game so far. It felt like such a genuinely mysterious moment.

I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it, but I got all the upgrades! Is the game supposed to end after this? I got to the red thing with full upgrades and it just told me to leave.

This was surprisingly addictive and very elegantly simple!

Developer

If you have most/all the upgrades, you should be able to save yourself from being thrown to the ground by the eye. Remember the hint: "Don't listen to it." ;)

Nice little game even though my playthrough was mostly splat, splat, splat :D

Enjoyable game, the first time I managed to survive a landing was very satisfying! I liked the secret, eventually unlocked all upgrades as well! I did notice it I was able to go higher than 10 with the upgrades, not sure if that was intentional? :P

Developer

Definitely not intentional, I think the upgrade cap was the last thing I put in before submitting so I'm honestly not surprised it's broken. Sounds like a pretty fun bug though, maybe I'll leave it in :)

Exactly, I honestly thought it was another secret :P
