Did you work in a team?
6 members: Myself (Team Lead/Programmer), BurntRobot (Art Lead/Characters), GalaxyDork(Environmental Art), BeatleyTQD (SFX), Lars (Music), Rhombicosidodecahedron (Programmer).

It was a great time working with this team. We focused on balancing life with the challenges of a jam and put together a smaller project.

Was the resolution a challenge?
From a design perspective it was not the hardest challenge, mainly because our game is turn based and an 8x8 grid was easy to put into 64X64 resolution. However, our art team did a fantastic job of making easily readable sprites at an 8X8 size.

Also want to send a shout out to our sound guys who made intentional efforts to ensure the sounds/music that they created fit within what we would expect from a low resolution game, while also looking to explore outside of traditional 8bit sounds.

What did you learn?
Personally, as the programmer I had never done anything turn based before, and it was a blast learning how to program a turn based game. I know one of our artists had not worked much in pixel art before and adapted super well to the low resolution style. He had great guidance from our other artist on that as well.

Thank you for everyone's kind words about our project! The bug that causes it to crash is very known, but I did not know if I was allowed to work on fixing it and posting the fixed version after the jam had ended. Now that voting is done, I am working on rooting out what is happening and hopefully able to post a fixed version.

Interesting concept and I liked the music.

Sadly the game crashed several times.

And you have to restart the game, because it loops between the title screen and score after you lose

Also had the same problem with crashing. Wish I could have played! I shall abstain from rating.

Our sound and music guys were awesome! This is a known bug and I am working on fixing it. To maintain the spirit of the jam, I did not want to fix and upload the fixed version until voting had been finished.

Good job! I have terrible reflexes, so a turn-based bullet hell game is perfect for me. :)
The checkerboard pattern in the game area is a nice touch - that makes it much easier to keep track of things.

what a good looking gorilla. unfortunately the game crashed within 5 seconds of playing - the game controller object was looking for a parent_projectile that wasnt there.
