Themes
I avoided adding threats to keep the game "Peaceful". I also ended up with a mundane goal, so accidentally fit into "The Main Mission Is A Sidequest".

Tools
Lospec pixel editor, Stacked Sprite Viewer, and ZzFX. Having better tooling for making sprite stacks would have helped.

Lessons
I learned how to stack sprites! I also attempted a quasi-client/server design to make migrating to p2p easier later.

Hot take incoming: I loved the first release of No Man’s Sky, and I hated it more and more with every new addition. I really miss the old days of peaceful exploration, never settling down and running from danger. You reminded me so much of those old days, so thank you!

I found movement to be a bit weird, getting stuck on terrain i guess?

Developer

There's actually nothing to bump into. 😄 But the physics is a little slippery; it needs to be fine-tuned.

Very cool idea for a game. I had fun!

The concept of walking around and mining is pretty cool! I could se this being fun if expanded upon. But like others said, I don't think there's anything to do outside of making the fire. I'm guessing there is no ship even though your controls say enter/exit ship?

Developer

Glad you liked it. For the ship: You have to be close to the ship, then press E to enter, W to take off, E to land, and E again to exit.

you should try and make a genuine de make of no mans sky haha

I mean, the base has alot of potential and it looks really nice, but if the sole goal of the game is to mine a single resource and make a fire there's alot of unused and, so far, pointless content which makes this game feel like you ran out of time.

Please continue developing, this looks promising, but as of now it's kind of disappointing :(

It's a nice proof of concept though and the graphics are well done.

Apart from that the main loops seems bugged on unfinished (making a camp doesn't reduce carbon and has no other point?), this is pretty neat, walking and flying around and mining like this has potential. I do love the controls in essence but there could be less buttons I think.

Developer

Thanks. What do you mean by less buttons? I tried to match the keys with how NMS works.

Submitted

Never played NMS. Has no effect on the game but seems a bit too much when reading the list of controls before playing. For example, make camp/enter ship could be the same button but context aware. Then there is tab for inventory that I don't remember has much use, and space for jumping that I also never found reason to use, though I might be missing something.

Well-made fake 3D! Love the sprite stacking. Felt like it needed some more to make a compelling game but I can see the potential for future improvements.
