Splitscreen multiplayer is absolutely on my list. For networked multiplayer, maybe at some later point.

Understandable, but by holding you can only either accelerate or not, with tapping you can control the level of acceleration. I am trying to optimize the mechanics though, so stay tuned for updates.

Cool game. It would be greatly improved by some variety. You could add additional obstacles (obviously moving away from the pothole subtitle then), even moving ones like traffic. You could add bonus points, additional lanes (even temporarily, like as a powerup or based on progress), changing environments... you name it. There's alot of potential for a great post jam release here, and I'm excited to see if there will be one :D

Nice atmosphere. The jumpscare was rather predictable, but i supposed they always are in this kinda of game :D Flicking the lighter got a bit tedious over time, especially with the degrading flint that I personally felt did not add anything to the game.

Browser based is great as it is platform independent

Pretty cool idea and well implemented. Has strong surgeon simulator vibes too. I like the variety of mini games you managed to implement which all are tied together well. Not sure if it's coincidence for me or there are only heart transplants, but there's only so much you can do in a game jam and you managed to fit in a lot.

10/10, would get my heart transplant elsewhere though....

First time I heard about the space bar having issues with high frequency taps, maybe it's your keyboard?

Rythm-based input doesn't quite fit what I had in mind. The inspiration are classic slot car races, but since your average keyboard can't read pushing strength, I go with pushing frequency instead.

I am sure though with a little practice you will become a world class tap tap racer :D

Agreed. I'd also like a rear view mirror so you have a better understand on how close the other cars are (especially yellow :D)

They didn't make into the jam release, but if the game hits well enough I might add some features afterwards.

Split screen multiplayer comes to mind...

Hard to judge without somebody to play with, would probably benefit a lot from even a simple AI opponent.

I guess I chose the space bar as it is a straightforward choice and easy to hit even when switching hands or fingers.

I'll consider adding a way to change keys though, as it is a valid point.

Travel time of the space bar can indeed affect the game a bit, though I don't think it's too much of an issue in this case as you're just racing the computer  :D

The game has a pretty steep learning curve for someone new to morse code, as it is rather easy to ruin the whole message while trying to find the next letter code. I didn't manage to get any answers, though I have to admit I wasn't able to send any message beyond "hi" correctly.

I like the piano music, I understand it's a live recording?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Unfortunately as per end user license agreement section 354 paragraph 14 (that's on page 52 in the fine print) I am not required to provide replacement for keyboards broken during or due to use of my game :D

Great game idea and implementation. My only complaint is that it actually suffers a bit under the one button premise because it takes attention from the actual command planning and focuses on the moving pointer. This game would be great to turn into a post jam with more suitable controls.

The issue is fixed now, finally

Cool idea with the enemy based weapons. I like the spritework. Bonus points for controller compatibility and the color palette choice.

It may not exactly have Gameboy soul, but definitely scary. When you reach the star the second mario gets to you, you get stuck after respawn. For some reason that kept happening to me, so I eventually quit.

Mario appearing definitely works as a jumpscare :D

Gets hard rather fast with zombies moving around. Makes for a short but fun experience and feels GameBoy-ish. Nice job.

Oh that's a new one. I'll add it to the minor bugs I have to address in a post jam release :)

Nice idea and great artwork. I found in kinda imbalanced as sometimes all monsters spawn at the same time with no way of getting them all, so you are pretty much set up to fail. With some optimization on that part it's a fun concept!

Really great game in classic GameBoy RPG style. Great sprites, great music, great storytelling. I was kinda bummed it ended so abruptly, but that's probably due to running out of time :D

I noticed some minor bugs like ghosts appearing again when interacting with gravestones multiple times and the rock re-appearing after leaving the vault, but nothing stopping me from playing. Very polished for a Jam Game. Great job!

Very cool Zelda-like. Great artwork, sfx and overall execution with a nice core mechanic to solve puzzles.

I wasn't too convinced by the screenshots, but this is a blast to play. Could very much imagine this on a gameboy, it certainly has an oldschool rail shooter feel to it (sans the movement, obviously). Nicely done!

This is pretty cool and fun. I'd love to have controller support on this. One thing that was kind of annoying is having only Z as a button, because on some keyboard layouts such as mine Z and Y are switched, resulting in a very awkward hand pose.

The game ended very abruptly, some death animation for the boss and a transition would be nice.

Everything else: awesome.

I like the concept. The platforming is a bit slippery which make it harder and I didnt understand how to beat or avoid the first boss. I pretty much kept evading him and tried jumping on his head but in the end nothing worked.

Sprites are looking nice.

Yeah the camera is a minor issue I'd like to fix in a post jam release. Glad you enjoyed it anyway :)

Cool idea for a platformer. Plays really well and feels polished already. The color palette swap for day and night works great too.

The sprites look nice, I'm not sure I'd call it spooky but thats alright.

It is obviously missing SFX and music, which you should definitely add later on. Besides that it's a great jam entry!

Interesting game. Unfortunately it is easy to get stuck between the baby and things, especially when it's crying and it doesn't move away anymore. As you don't seem to be able to drop (at least some) things you're carrying, you're stuck and need to restart.

The music is a tad annoying after a while, but the change to silence certainly adds to the suspense.

The sprites look great and authentic for gameboy games. The color palette is also well chosen.

Haha yea improvements are often possible in jam games. Glad you enjoyed it though

Really nice platformer with nice pixel art, good music and sound effects and really entertaining gameplay.

It's short enough for everyone to beat it while being long enough to be entertaining. I can imagine playing more of this. Very nice!

Nice game, takes a while to finish though. Obviously getting repetitive after a while but would integrate nicely into a bigger game (for instance, a game about running from a wizard). The sounds seem a bit quite, but that's where my volume control excels :P I missed music though.

I didn't really see the secondary theme much in it, but it's a great game nonetheless.

It's an interesting idea and really nicely made sprites. It seems to be a bit buggy as it often doesn't seem to accept the right response correctly making the fail sound and taking damage (or at least that's my impression). I also managed to get locked in "combat" while looking around with no ghost around, resulting in the hamster moving on with no more ghosts spawning. I can't seem to finish the game even in multiple attempts.

The music is nice even if a bit repetitive. It's not exactly a game you would find in on a GameBoy on it's own, but could easily be a stage or mode on a bigger game.

Solid entry.

Haha yes maybe. But then again, where's the challenge in that :D

This was interesting for sure. It does feel (and obviously is) too advanced for a Gameboy, but certainly still does carry the vibes.

Just a side note: Update to Godot 4.3, which allows single threaded builds than can be embedded in the game page again.

Oh this is nice. Simple but solid gameplay, awesome pixel art and good sound with a good pinch of humor. Very enjoyable.

I'm not quite sure what I was doing there. I grabbed things that then disappeared though I expected to have to drop them somewhere. I was able to automatically grab things that were falling and I don't know what my goal was besides grabbing things.

I am sure these things probably make more sense in the finished product, but right now they left me puzzled.

The graphics are nice and gameboy-ish. I didn't find anything spooky, but from your description I take it that aspect didn't make it before the submission deadline.

Really nice game. Feels like a GameBoy title and has nice graphics. Missing SFX are a bummer, especially as even if music is quite time consuming, adding simple sounds from sfxr is fast and adds so much to the game. This was, by coincidence, the second game in a row that has no sound at all and I spent some minutes trying to figure out whats wrong with my computer :D

The gameplay is solid, no experiments but straightforward platforming in a well implemented way. Some way of avoiding instant damage when exiting a door, especially when you can't check if its clear before, would be nice. I'd have loved to see another level or two, as the game is finished rather fast.

I don't quite see the connection between the title and the game itself, I suppose there was some kind of background story planned that didn't make it into the product.

Footnote: There's either some big slipup in your title screen or theres a joke I missed, but you wrote "My Neibor Hounted House" which should probably read "My Neighbor Haunted House". Could of course be a "pet sematary" reference but that's far fetched :P

Edit: I realized you fixed one part of the title in your screenshots but not in game, probably to not change the uploaded file during rating.

This looks great and promising and I would really like to play this game. If I could... Even the core mechanic, though implemented, is not used in the game for any effect at all besides where its introduced. The screencaps show more than you can actually do in the game. Also, no sound.

In regards to the jam, I wish I could rate it better. But there simply isn't anything to rate yet in many categories.

I do however find this amazing and am honestly excited to see this finished in the future! If there was some more content this could easily have become one of the top games of this jam :D

Thank you very much for the review and also the link, as I wasn't able to watch it live due to time zones!

A shame you weren't able to finish. Unfortunately sometimes things just happen, I hope you want to finish this in a post-jam version.

I didn't really understand what I was supposed to do and usually ended up being killed by something that resembled flying toilet paper rolls :D

The sprites look good though and I think I have an idea what you were going for. There's potential for a future release that I would very much like to see.

You are aware of the resolution issue, but due to the fact that this is submitted as unfinished and is still WIP I don't mind that as it's easily fixed later.

Nice game, though the controls are awful if you dont use a gamepad. It's a shame there is absolutely no sound at all, would help to build up the atmosphere. I certainly didn't expect a fishing game with the current theme, so good job at surprising me :D
