A cool idea for a platformer! The presentation is neat, especially since all the assets are your own. The theme works ok, but my favourite part of foddian games is being able to cling onto some progress - this system doesn't work quite like that. It was nice to be going down instead of up for once though. The mechanics of the player is a bit tricky to get your head around - the shots are really just a bit too weak. Adding enemies was a nice spin on the idea, although a bit hard to hit with the gun. Overall, good job, and keep it up!
This game fascinates me. After about half an hour of playing, I had made it to the second level three times. An interesting way to qualify a game is what it makes you think about while playing it, and this game made me think of some pretty cool stuff. First of all, I found the game postmodern in the sense that it rewards you for doing *less*. So many times, an extra "a" or "d" hit would send me to death; whereas just lifting my hand off the keyboard to land straight down kept me alive. The game also rewards you for doing less during those few moments the triple blast won't do -- like that last set of two spikes in a row after the two sets of three. Lastly, the game rewards you for doing less when a jump would kill you -- whereas you could simply inch towards the edge of the rounded corner; then let it slide you down and BLAM BLAM BLAM the spider underneath you.
Typically, "combos" are seen as more rare than "single-move actions," so this inversion of the norm -- with the near-unilateral triple tap; and rare times when only two would do (I don't think I encountered a single moment where ONLY one hit was required) -- I found it really novel and compelling. Thank you for sharing.
my poor spacebar :( Nice execution of simple mechanics, I had fun!
This game looks and feels great to play, it's lacking background music so I only gave it 4 stars for presentation. It's very creative, and fits the theme perfectly. Well done!

I liked the graphics. However, the first level seemed difficult to me
Gave this one an honest effort, since i ended up making a platformer for the jam too. I had a fun time blasting the enemies, and getting through the levels. The gaining height while shooting was a cool mechanic, as well as helping in slowing down jump. I think there were a lot of instances where it felt like the controls were not as responsive as I would like, because it wasn't working off the intent of the player, rather than a strict timing. Overall though i'd say it fit the theme of the jam well, as I did end up dying a lot lol.
Great game that fits the theme very well, the ability to spam for bigger jumps was great. The mobs added for a good challenge
Nice art! I think this game would have benefited from a shallower difficulty curve, but I guess difficulty is in the spirit of Foddian games :)
This is pretty cool. Good job on the submission! I like the art style and the way the mechanics are implemented.
Have you experimented with a fix camera instead of something that scrolls (a camera like Celeste that doesn't move until you reach the edge, than it moves to the next section)?
I feel like most of the time, I die because I don't know what's below and I can't react in time. So instead of being about platforming skills, it's about dying so you know where is the next platform. So I die, then I progress 1 platform lower, than I die again, then I progress 1 platform lower, etc.
Food for thoughts :) it's a great entry, I'm just giving a feedback!
Good job on your jam submission, pretty impressive!
Hey man I really appreciate the feedback! I can see where you are coming from and agree that it would have made it a lot more convenient for the player.
that death animation made me lol good work
Thanks man! I loved the visuals and mechanics of your game. Good luck on the jam :)
