taking a deep breath while spacing out the breaths help to keep your breath meter up and prevents you from dying

Nice! Concept is just like the nightmares about drowning. Quite hard also. Not sure is the breathing from a button a feature that is necessary. I was not able to beat the game, but saw the speedrun posted by your friend. Slightly simpler maps for beginners would be great. Loved the little humour in the texts. Good job!
The overlapping menu bug is a bummer as it takes away precious time while the water starts rising to try to close it. The game looks potentially fun and the design of the menu and the ship is nice.
Thanks! And yea it was a small screw up i forgot to turn it off before building and we were super close to deadline so we didn't have time to test further
PROS:
- Assets are good
- Screen stuff is atmospheric and the movement is fine
- Cool premise.
CONS:
- Ditch the hold right click to breathe and shift controls, have one movement speed. I shouldn't have to just hold down right mouse and shift the entire game its silly.
- More clear indications of where to go
- Overlapping menus bug
I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Menu's overlap each other and are kind of confusing tbh.
(I just realised that my review didn't go through so I'll repost the gist of it here)
This is a game jam game, so I won't really comment about the aesthetics but more on the gameplay.
Gameplay-wise, I like the concept of escaping the randomly-generated maze, which allows for replayability. The addition of the timer and rising water levels gives a sense of urgency and the need to escape the ship as fast as possible. However, I feel that the water level could rise a bit slower, because you only have a 10 second or so leeway before the water level reaches the ceiling and once that happens, you will most likely die unless in range to stairs/a hole that leads to the next floor, so a slower water rise would give the player a bit more breathing room.
Other mechanics such as the fire/obstructions are alright. The only other gripe I have is that the UI could be clearer as Gekido said, as I first found myself clicking on the right 'console' element on the title screen thinking it would do something.
All in all I love the random maps on every playthrough! Maybe if you guys wanna build upon the game in the future it could be focused on speedrunning.
