Art, sound and music is great. Love the mood and the usage of the RPG Maker MV. Works well with you want to sell. The "main" battles are kinda hard, but expected so. Silly and fun enemies but I can't stress enough how the custom assets made a difference here.

I've played my share of RPG maker jam games by now, and one thing that always makes them stand out is custom assets! The original art and music really make this one shine... really great pixel art and illustrations, and the music is well done. The only thing I would have liked to see is more than just tiling floors during the story segments... you see a lot of that, and it does stand out as unfinished looking. But I know this is a prototype, so I imagine that's on the to-do list!

The story was good so far! My only critique there is that the dialogue slightly stilted... but overall it works. I think with another pass to give it a bit more of a natural flow and it'll be perfect!

I did unfortunately hit a crash-point in the web version. When fighting "Boss Rekka" she was invisible, though I could still battle her. But when I defeated her, the game go stuck there... music still running, characters moving, but no ability to do anything or leave the battle. This could be a web-specific issue. If I have the time, I'll try and checkout the download version later!

Overall, what I played so far was great! I hope you are able to keep working on it!

The audio sting that plays when you are defeated means serious business. ;) The art has a great cozy-game adjacent feel and the mechanics are very solid. Personally I would like to see more environmental detail during the dialog bits. Great work!

Developer

Thank you for this note! All credits go to our sound and music designer! That is great to hear the game feels cozy and mechanics are solid. Agree - as a first prototype, we ran out of time to implement some tiles we had made before the deadline however we hope to add them in the future! <3

The pixel art is really cute!

Unfortunately certain skills such as Eruption and Royal Banquet freeze the game because the texture files weren't in the game so I ended up losing a lot of progress before Crystal's boss fight.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the kind words about the pixel art and note on Eruption and Royal Banquet! We caught a few bugs with skills and working to fix them! We added a devblog to avoid. Apologies for any inconveniences!
