Is RPGMaker an accepted engine? Is it also okay for there to be some point-and-click puzzle elements?

This was amazing. One of your friends recommended me this and I'm very impressed at how you capture the existential crisis of the main character and the increasing mistrust of the professor.
Also just wanna let you know I was eating noodles when I got to the ending, I'm okay but thought it'd be funny to tell you. 😂
Okay, finally got to the ending! I was a bit in-and-out on playing, that's a me thing though. Game wasn't difficult, Harold and Carmina's multi-hit attacks made me breeze through the final boss with no problem.
As always, I love the addition of custom art in an RM game. In particular, how this game uses the VN style for the cutscenes. I still encourage you to keep drawing.
Ending was a bit confusing that it was all a dream (I think?) and then the story cuts off there. Not sure if there's any previous entries where I can get further context on who the characters are and why the world is all post-apocalyptic.
Took me 3 tries to beat the final boss. First time I got him down to really low HP twice but not enough to KO. u_u
The little twist ending caught me by surprise in a good way, I won't spoil it for the others but it made me snort hard.
I always appreciate custom art in an RM game. While I was a bit bothered by how Therese has no pants despite being clad in full armor everywhere else, I liked how Lucius is portrayed as a comically serious intellectual as well as the two protagonists having cold expressions as their default face.
That was an engaging story! The visuals of it starting off with everything blacked out and having the overall aesthetic of it being in monochrome to cement the WWII era really makes the story impactful.
At first I was worried that Chris had abandoned Hayashita when rescue came but then having the westerners discover him would be a worse choice. But I'm glad that after everything, there was still a happy ending.
Loved this entry. <3
A BL platform game, that's pretty new to me. The puzzles were challenging but not frustrating, which is great! Both protags are pretty good and so is their relationship. The section where Gwen is alone does add some suspense to the story and make his character more relatable, though I kinda wish there's a little more, like some backstory on how he met Chris and all that such. Since only Act 1 is available, I just hope future acts expand on it.
Only explanation I have for Mia hitting as hard as Cheryl's magic is so the party's balanced out and both members have their own niche. Though story-wise I'll just say that Cheryl's age caused her powers to not be as effective as they were before, and/or that Mia's actually quite athletic thanks to swim club, though they may sound like hand waves more than anything.
I did initially have plans for more optional areas but they were a bit too ambitious to include in a jam game, not exactly sure if I (or my brother) would be up to create a larger scaled post-jam version. But there is an optional boss rush where it takes place back in Mia's house, and it unlocks right before the final area.
As for the next time you attempt the Camazotz battle, have Mia tank with Textbook Guard on first turn, it's a lifesaver.
Overall, I appreciate the feedback!
My first thought when I started this game was "ayyyy this brings me back to Pokemon Crystal!"
I enjoyed the story, I could feel the emotions in the characters as the tension rises up to the climactic battle. The ending was really bittersweet, I even teared up a bit.
The battle system is also engaging, having prefixes and suffixes to make many different combination of attacks is quite original. Although, for a game with infected humans as the enemies, I think having them roam around the map gives them a more threatening feel and increases the stakes of the story.
Overall, really great entry.
I’m fully aware of the map teleportation bug but my lack of knowledge in programming and my brother working on another jam that unfortunately overlapped with this one didn’t give us enough time to fix it.
We’re not exactly planning a sequel (at least as of right now) but you are correct about Mia gaining water powers, and I’m glad you enjoyed the game. ^u^
I'm amazed by this. While I'm not the biggest fan of the love at first sight trope, I do enjoy way the story progresses and how you gotta restart the game multiple times to achieve the best ending. The sprite and CG artwork is by far the best part. The voice acting can feel flat occasionally, particularly when Atsuo has a rather casual tone of voice during a scene where he's dying, but it is impressive for a jam game to even have voice acting in the first place, imo. Really great entry!
This brings me back to the good 2000s age of Deviantart and Newgrounds, how I would go to these dress up games and make my own character.
Really loved the artstyle. One thing I would like is more color options, since there were some clothing and hair combo that I think would look good but the colors would be all over the place. But overall, I enjoyed this cute game. ^u^
