Software used
GameMakerStuio2 as engine. Audacity for sound editing, voicebooking and Microsoft Azure for TTS generation, Labchirp for generating sound effects.

Use of the limitation
By turning off sight you're cheating, also you're cheating someone out of your ship!.. Also included in install folder are cheats you can use to hearts content. With hints, maps, and cheat codes if you find that by turning off the lights on the ship you're trying to steal makes it too dificult.

I think for me this has to be the most interesting game of jam. Accessibility is so important in games, thank you for making this.  Your implementation of cheat files and maps was really cool to see. I had a whole array of tabs open across my screen and it felt like I was pulling off the heist of the galaxy. Most importantly, the audio in this game is fantastic.

A cool addition I think that could really elevate this (not that it needs it) is to incorporate controller support. The added sensory element of the rumble and mechanics that could be derived from it might create a very immersive experience given our heightened perception from the lack of sight. With new emerging technologies such as haptics in the Dualsense, I look forward to your future projects. Great work.

Oh you're so kind! Thank you so much!

You're completely right that control rumble would be cool! When you run into a wall a little jolt on the controller would probably feel fantastic. I'm glad you enjoyed it so much! I've been doing these game jams as practice and to get feed back before jumping into a bigger project and so it's really encouraging to hear people appreciate them!

I like the concept and the audio was really good. I like the use of the cheats in the game files. Great work!

Thank you!

The game concept and audio are great!Nice game

Developer

Thank you! Hope you had a bit of fun amongst the confusion!

No problem!Do you want to try my game too?

Developer

Already did!

Thank you!

Wow, this is great. What a cool idea, I had never thought of using audio like that before. It was very hard for me and I couldn't do it without the cheats but it was amazing. It also felt great to have the cheats as seperate in the folder.

Developer

I'm glad you liked it so much! Audio games are a smaller community, and the difficulty curves on them are pretty nasty because most of us aren't used to even the most basic things! To people who play them a lot I'm down right awful at them still. I imagine we look a lot like people who have never played a game before picking up BOTW.

Audio game 100% deserve more spotlight, there's so many possibilities that haven't been fully explored. Great job and i really look forward to playing your bigger game you want to make!

Developer(+1)

Oh thank you so much!

I need a bit more practice with making audio games, as some stuff was still strange, but I'm getting better at it!

This game is INCREDIBLE! Nice job really, I enjoyed this game sooo much. It is what I expect from gam jams, cool ideas and some experiments, not the usual platformer

Developer(+1)

I'm glad you liked it so much! Audio games are fairly popular in the blind gaming community, for obvious reasons,  so I've been using game jams to practice making them so I can make blind accessible games! Or that's the plan at least.

Even if it has a rough difficulty curve, like level 2 is waay more complex than level 1, i think its an amazing idea and a pretty good experience.

All I can say is wow what a neat concept. Nice work!

Very unique idea! Certainly a sense I'm not used to using in a game, but I loved it! The inclusions of maps, cheat codes, and hints in the install folder was a fun level of meta for the limitation.

Developer

Oh thank you so much! I'm glad you liked the hacker maps! For some reason the idea of having the cheats/ect. built in game felt weird to me, cause at that point it's more like buying a power up. So decided to go a bit meta, where like in the old days if you wanted cheat codes/walk through you had to buy the strategy guide or nintendo power or whatever!

Submitted

I like that a lot! I had a similar idea for my game. Since my background is web development I was thinking of putting up a dummy wiki site for the game. Due to time I ended up not doing it though, and I hid the cheat codes in the game instead. Even while I was doing it I was thinking they felt like... flexible powerups at best lol.

I like the audio game idea. But at the beginning it was hard for me to play and understand what I do.

This concept is great. I really enjoyed playing it. Good Job!

The multimedia aspect is very immersive. ╰(⸝⸝⸝´꒳`⸝⸝⸝)╯

I like this idea, concept! Very good. But little bit hard.

Developer(+1)

Yeah audio games have a nasty skill curve as a genre I'm afraid! I tried to make an in depth tutorial and make audio queues as clear as possible, but we're just so not used to it so it's weird!

But its difficulty fit in well with the "Player must cheat" theme! I'm glad you liked it!

Dude your concept is very cool (I never played a game where audio is so important) and the cheat idea is very useful (at least for me, I sucked;))

Good job boi!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Yeah Audio games are mostly popular for the blind gaming community, so I've been practicing to try and get ready to make a bigger audio game!

I'm glad you liked the maps! The game is beatable without the maps, but it takes a lot of wandering around and mental imaging to figure out the routes of the robots you have to avoid/grab. Glad you had fun!

I am terrbile at this but it's a great concept!

Developer

I'm glad you liked it!

And dude tell me about it! There is a decent amount of audio games, mostly played by the blind gaming community, and I suck at most of them. I tried to make as gentle learning curve as I can, but it is still so strange to play without video. I still constantly just want to look and see what is making noises.

Submitted

Wow, this is really a very cool concept of the game where you hear only sounds and have to follow them. But the idea of the game still needs to be finalized. And so everything is great!

Developer(+1)

Oh thank you! Yeah I didn't get to everything I wanted too, I had a lot of other ideas for what cool things your hacker could do to help you out. But jam time line, glad you enjoyed it!

I've never heard of or played a game like this where you depend so much on audio. The concept is really cool and unique!

Unfortunately my headphones recently broke so I couldn't get very far without looking at the cheats, but I'm sure this would have been really enjoyable for me otherwise.

Developer

Oh thank you for your kind words!

Hey, cheats are there for you to use! Hopefully they helped you explore a bit more!

Love it! tbh this took me a while to learn since I never tried an audio game before. Now I learned another way to create a game! Very interesting!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!

Yeah I found them a few months ago and became enchanted by them! Such a unique way to make games. But also I am awful at most Audio games! I tried to make a nice as learning curve as I could, but audio game learning curves just are so much steeper!

Developer(+1)

Oh and I'll also say, if you're interested in learning to make games like this, if you message me on discord I can send you an invite to an audio game dev discord server!

This was great! I loved the design, definetly deserves gold!

Thank you so much!
