  • The real victory in the design of this game is the changing reticle when you get a new weapon. What an efficient and seamless way to communicate to the player that their weapon has changed. There are some things we would rework in this game such as the damage output on the sniper rifle and the attack patterns in the boss battles. Overall, the game is really very easy. That's probably better than it being too hard at least for game jam purposes, but if even casuals like us can just breeze through you should maybe be asking where the challenge and/or strategy lies in your design. Love that retro music. Lots of game here for just 2 weeks of development time. Good work.

Smooth. I remember these characters. Love a good parallax background too. Good work. Only thing I'd comment is as a leftie, I found the controls hard especially with needing to hit the spacebar so often

Developer

Thanks for playing !

Haha yeah that's just my artstyle, and the fact that i kinda consider any game i made so far with these various pilot rosters to be part of the same universe  :p

When it comes to sidescrolling i always try to have some parallax when possible to help give the environement a bit more depth, so i'm glad you appreciate the extra detail ^^

Whoops my bad :(

gotta say i didn't think too much foward with the control scheme, and went for a basic WASD  or arrows layout without taking into account that yeah spacebar might be a bit far to reach in some cases. Although i can't really change anything during the voting period, i think i could fix that post jam by maybe having the up direction be it W or Up arrow to have closer keys that could accomodate for both lefties and righties.
