It doesn't run in Firefox because of this error :( Had to dust off Edge

Sure, I should probably write something on that. You can mix/remix these however you like, and use them in any game you like without credit (feel free to though), just don't post them as assets for sale here or anywhere else.

I'm impressed by the level of detail and writing that went into this. I bet you could scale it up to have multiple mechs in a team too.

Roof snake is my favourite. I'm glad we all became friends.

I think I loved dying almost as much as blowing up the little men. Best dying animation.

Solid. Simple, yet very effective. Great style, great execution. Big fan.

Smooth. I remember these characters. Love a good parallax background too. Good work. Only thing I'd comment is as a leftie, I found the controls hard especially with needing to hit the spacebar so often

Thanks for playing :D

Hmmm, there should be some dodgy SFX in there as well. There's an option screen, might be that I set the default volume to 0.

And for future players, enemies that are on fire are lootable. Enemies that aren't on fire aren't lootable. Probably needed to do more to show that.

Oh, I'd love to know more if you have the time. What bits stood out? So I can remember to incorporate them in future game ideas.

Thanks :D

I've played a few of the games that use this and love the idea. I'm not sure it would work combined with the charge up mechanic, but it's an idea that's definitely worth experimenting with. Thank you for playing and the suggestion.

I genuinely think this is a great idea and wish I'd thought of it. I agree that the way it is does slow it down just enough to be annoying.

That was the original plan actually. I will have to re-investigate it after the jam is over. Thanks for playing.

Neat solution to the one button challenge. Love the style

A couple of sweet vignettes. Love this simple idea.

Thanks! The single button and nothing but made it quite the challenge to come up with a gameplay idea. Great jam

Thanks!

Thanks. Using the enemies resources to survive was the foundational idea I had when I decided to participate. The very first thing I thought about. I'm glad people are liking the music. I find myself listening to it again and again and it was fun to come up with.

Hah, love the vibe. Hate the controls, but love the vibe.

Couldn't play it with myself, but enjoyed the read through. Super polished, both from a visual design perspective, and a gameplay perspective. Complicated, so it might need another hint or two, but it strikes me as the kind of game that grows with your understanding of it.

Damn impressive level of detail for a jam game. Getting that stuff coordinated is tough, so super commendable effort for that.

I for one welcome our new pink surreal overlords. I only wish there was more.

Time for tea.

I struggled with aim/losing the mouse cursor. Otherwise, this is smooth and gorgeous for a game in this style. Having the water spray when your down at the bottom of the screen of the second boss is slick af.

Adorable story.

There is no multi weapon fire. It was on the list from the very beginning (and it would look cool), but the balance was such that as you can win with a single gun, multiple weapons would have made it too easy. I also had to work the AI to stop them from firing all their weapons at once, which absolutely annihilated the player during development. And I never quite worked out how to handle the UX of selecting what weapon(s) to fire. Solvable problems though. I think I could tune weapons easily enough.

I get people's frustrations with firing off screen and the low reward, but that (and having to use your base to take some hits etc) was all completely intentional. It's about surviving by the skin of your teeth, not smashing through at the end with all the goodies. Making players question: do I fix things now, I try another round and make more money.

I appreciate the feedback, positive and negative.

The developer is totally cool with the feedback. I set it as a survival game, it was supposed to be challenging in a "I'm frustrated and never have enough resources/health/time" kind of way. Your feedback is all valid, and the game doesn't have to be for everyone. Glad you enjoyed the the aesthetic and the music.

I had a ball playing this. So creative. And of course there'd be a giant rat as the last big enemy. The most creative entry I've played so far.

Clean, simple fun. Designing something visually coherent and clear in this style is so hard. This was great.

Yeah it's short, but this real brought me back to my childhood playing games on the megadrive/genesis. Really nailed the style. Both graphically and sound too. I hope you keep extending it with more content.

So I'm not able to actually play, but I thoroughly enjoyed reading the gameplay and seeing how it would play. I love this style of writing. Excellent. Cover was absolutely a selling point. Sound track was great too.

Are there non gamepad controls for this? I'm trying to play (and it looks neat) but I can't shoot. Like the style, just want to be able to play more

I tried hard to get it to work, but I couldn't get it to load the assets. Even running the batch to extract the data file (not a good idea for how to package your game) didn't work :( Better to have one zip file that has everything together. If you know what might be happening, post so we can play your game.

Thanks, that's big praise to be considered the top entry. Glad you enjoyed

Wow, fantastic. Not sure I've played an experience like this in a jam before. Fantastic

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I suck at these kind of games, but the gameplay is deeper than the "rough" text and graphics suggests. It's was fun

It's definitely possible to beat the game. The autocannon is my weapon of choice
