Really cool vibe and nice use of lighting! I agree with other comments that the aerial movement was difficult to control. I liked the quick attack, although I noticed it kind of being displaced when I run - it seemed almost like a short projectile rather than a melee attack. I got a bit lost and didn't get very far into the game itself, but I enjoyed my time with it!

Developer

I'll definitely look into the melee attack, you are right that it feels disconnected and it floats when moving.  Great critique!  We are also working on a minimap, that had to be axed to make the jam deadline.  Thank you for checking it out!

Really liked the vibe of your game.  The Art style fit together and the palette used her was nice.  That paired with the music built a nice atmosphere.  Gonna have to piggy back a little on the other comments and say the lack of movement in the air movement made platforming a little awkward, but I eventually kind of figured out how to work it anyways and was able to traverse around pretty well.  Definitely built a neat experience and something I think you could easily build on.  Good job!

Thank you for playing, we are definitely paying heed to the comments about the movement and that will be fixed along with lots of other improvements!

I really liked the environment and character in this. It all felt very atmospheric, especially with the music.

I didn't end up managing to finish the game, because it felt like i kept going in circles. I'd gotten the glide ability, and then eventually managed to find the second boss, but didn't get anything for beating him, and then seemed to just go back to the second area's start again. I felt a distinct feeling of not knowing what I was trying to accomplish. I.e. I wasn't sure where I was trying to go or what I was trying to do. E.g. was that thing that teleports you to the second area (the dark cave place) the goal you want to get to each time? Or just a one time thing?

As some others have already mentioned, the lack of aerial control made platforming quite fiddly and difficult. I also had trouble with the acid(?) killing you instantly and chucking you back way to the beginning of the area. That felt quite harsh, and compounded the aerial control issue a bit.

But overall, I really enjoyed the experience. Nice job!

Thank you for playing, I'm glad you liked the tone and atmosphere.  I'm sorry you got caught in a loop, that shouldn't happen and could have been an oversight.  Yeah once you reach the Great Tree the 2nd time the game should end.  Thank you for your input and critiques, this problem among other level design issues (like checkpoints) will definitely be addressed!

I beat it \o/ I love the main character concept and the animations you've done so far are amazing. The mechanics too with being able to grow platforms and glide are sweet ideas! Also love the general theme about the tree and corruption, that boss was so unexpected It spooked me when I saw it :')

Obviously like you mentioned the game is unfinished so I don't really have any criticism that you wont already have thought of, I'd just like to second what miracle touched on with the jump, I think just being able to control xAxis movement in the air would make all the difference, rather than it being locked as soon as the player stops touching the floor, I had a few frustrating deaths from that :)

Thanks for playing (and finishing)!  KrowMagg did an excellent job on the animations.  Definitely agree about the aerial movement, that is something that needs attention.  Cheers!

The game looks nice! The physics were a bit too strong when jumping. I felt like I was moving all over the place. Also got somewhat lost on the map

Good job!

Thanks for playing and for the compliment!  Agree on the aerial movement, we can definitely make that feel better.  The minimap had to be axed in order to make the deadline, we'll definitely want to add that in future updates.  I appreciate the critiques, cheers!
