Neat idea. Good job getting a prototype out. I would suggest working on the enemy sprites a bit. I couldn't really tell that they were enemies.

I really liked the art style and the grappling hook was really fun. I agreed with the sentiment that it's a bit too difficult to keep track of your player near enemies and to actually kill them without taking damage.

I think the game is well done though and would love to see where this project would end up after a bit of polish and some more player feedback were added.

Great job!

The Movement Mechanics & grapple was something new I saw in the JAM. other than that best of luck for future development

Grappling mechanics is fun and easy to use. Enemies feel too strong and battle doesn't provide enough feedback to the player. Also old-fasion monochrome graphic style in combination with small character sprites makes it hard to distinguish details for me personally.

What I Liked

  • I'm a big fan of the black and white color scheme.
  • I love the grappling hook mechanic.

Feedback/Suggestions

  • A lot of player feedback was missing. I didn't always know when I was taking damage or how close I could get to an enemy to attack without taking damage. It also wasn't clearly communicating that I was dealing damage. There are plenty of ways to address this visually and audibly.
  • Scaling isn't set up correctly for this type of game. In the windows settings, you can go to Stretch section and fix that with the values I've included in this response

Overall, I definitely think its a project you should keep working on! I can imagine a lot of cool puzzles involving the grappling hook!
