I had fun playing the game.

This is very cool. Feels very complete with all the UI and settings. I didn't expect an intro cutscene as well!

I think the way the opening area is designed can make the objective confusing because of the order in which we encounter points of interest. I had most of the items collected before I understood where I needed to set up camp. I did run around and press interact on anything that looked interesting, so I got by.

I had some trouble positioning myself exactly where I needed to be to interact/pick-up things. I thought the player speed was a little fast for that kind of precision.

About the flint-stones, I got them because it was a unique looking object along the shoreline. But when testing what happened if I set up a fire without the flint, it didn't give me a message about needing that item, so I imagine that someone could be lost if they didn't have that.

I really enjoyed it overall and liked the art - especially when Aika gets that cloak from the sails! I'm curious which software you used to pull this off so quickly.

Wolf RPG Editor. It's kind of like RPG Maker, only free and has a few less bells and whistles. Pasting a link below. I love it. Not many people use it, so it might be harder to google issues, but it's got a great manual and a sample game that explains the basics really well.

I deliberately made the pine grove on the opposite side of the map so you needed to explore to find it, but maybe it would be better to have it closer to the start point. I had a hard time "hitting" the items too, despite setting a slightly larger hitbox. Maybe I need to make it a little bigger. Thank you for for noticing.

When you interacted with the fire after finding the wood, but before the flint, did you get the message "Now I need to start the fire." Maybe I should change it to "need something to start a fire."

Ooh, that's an interesting engine. Seems like a labour of love.

Obviously take my observations about the level design with a grain of salt. But I can tell you what I enjoyed - after trying to interact with the ship and getting a come-back-later message, it felt nice to remember to go there the next morning and be rewarded for remembering.

Yes, the message I got when I tried to start a fire before getting the flint was "Now I need to start the fire." so it didn't imply that I needed anything, or what I needed specifically.

Thanks. Glad the fire event triggered properly. It was just the wording I need to fix.

This was very nicely polished.

You really made the player feel invested in the game quickly. The spritework was great too.

I think VGirotto meant the flintstones. I struggled to find them also, perhaps having them stand out a little bit more or giving a prompt e.g. "maybe the stones down at the beach would help" would guide the player a little.

If you ever end up expanding upon this RPG. I'd happily play it. Well done.

Thanks. I really hated the item I used for the flintstones, but it was the best I could find in the default tiles. If it had been a longer jam, I would have edited them in GIMP to be a little darker. Also would have liked to have set the default HP and MP bars to warmth and hunger stats that could be effected by finding food, taking a break by the fire, etc., but of course I did not have time for that :)

I really enjoyed using this software to make a survival game, and would like to make another longer one sometime. I'm in another longer jam that starts in a couple days, so I might experiment with making a similar game with energy and health stats.

Oh yes! Did you play the most recent version with the whole game I uploaded last night or the first version that only covers the first day by the river?

Submitted

the full version. Very glad it didn't end at the river as the second to third day was the part that hooked me. Also laughed at your boat hitting the beach animation was brilliant.

Nice game! It took me a lot of time to find the papers to start the campfire haha

Developer(+1)

Thanks. I just uploaded the full version with two more days to play through.

Not sure what you mean by papers? You use the flintstones (some small stones on the shore) to start the fire. The closest thing to paper was the tattered white cloth you use as a blanket (no longer in this version because it was an extra variable and redundant with a later item).

Oh, sorry, yes, I meant the flintstones.

And I will definitely play the new version!

That's so amazing!!! This is really underrated imo. I would love it if some objectives are displayed somewhere cuz I keep getting lost :c

Btw, How did you manage to make this in two days?! This is soo cool ngl!

Great sumbission!!

Thanks. The software I use makes it relatively easy to make maps quickly, but I still really had to rush. As I am sure you saw plastered all over the game I am trying to upload the final version today. Nearly there. I have the second day nearly done and the third day, which is basically the "You win!" day.

That sounds great!! Nice :D

And I just uploaded the updated version. You should be able to play the whole thing now.

P.S. Not sure what you meant in your first comment about wanted some objects displayed somewhere? There is an items menu with your inventory (press Escape, Items). The one issue with it is that the text is stuck close in color to the window and I have yet to find the setting to change that.

P.S.S. Misread. You said objectives. I'll consider adding that to an update.
