Judge feedback: The grappling hook feature is really fun, smooth and nice to play around with! The lighting also conveyed the theme, as well as the music. But maybe adding extra mechanics would make the game more fun, and there's a lot of guessing involved in dodging the spikes.
Thank for your feed back ;)
nice game, hoping youd review mine!
sheesh, the controls and movement were really nice... I might take inspiration from this and make my own, really good (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)
I played the game twice, the first time on my phone and the second time on my PC. It's really awesome! I love the mechanic, the atmosphere, the lighting, the sound design and it just looks so polished! I read comments saying they would like more hints. I find it especially great to study the shadows, guessing whether I will launch myself into some spikes or make a safe landing. So, if you're going to work on this game as a full version (which I could totally envision), then maybe let the player choose by implementing different difficulties. But for this jam, you crushed it! Only the theme is not really followed ;)
Edit: I wanted to say that on mobile it's way harder to guess the shadows right and also the aiming is pretty tough. Like another commenter suggested, it would be great to have an aiming mechanic, e.g. hold left mouse button / finger to show the line and/or anchor point and on release, actually launch the grappling hook. Could be combined with some assistance (indicators for spikes, etc).
Thank you for your thought on this :)
I didn't had any plan on making this a bigger game.
Also i kinda already have idea for core gameplay mechanic but cant find the idea that match the theme and gameplay mechanic nicely :/
The idea indicator is a good one, thanks 👍
Yeah, I get it with the core mechanics not fitting the theme :D The subrequisite broke my plan entirely lol
But I honestly think your game has great potential as a standalone game! I did not encounter any issues during my test plays. Maybe you give it a shot, depending on what your plans in game dev are. It could be a nice small start into publishing a game, as the game mechanics and graphics are already done ;)
thanks you, i honestly didn't think ill get this much good feedback considering this is my second game :]
Grappling feels amazing! Cool game :)
Really well made grappling system. Had a great time playing. Looking forward to more stuff
The presentation is awesome. For me it doesn't me the theme very well but beside that a fun game.
i can see you what meant 😅
I feel like Spider-Man, very good, although I don't have patience
Very polished and fun game. I especially love the lighting.
A game where the entire movement system is based on a grappling hook is really smart. This is a really unique game, the movement was fun, and I think with some more development and polish, this could be really addicting. I love how you played with the lighting to create a spooky atmosphere that also challenges the player to be cautious with their mouse clicks.
For a 48 hour game jam, this is tremendous.
A couple thoughts for improvement, if that's OK. I think having some ambient glow or some way or hinting at where the spikes are could help. Right now, it feels like a lot of guessing and crossing your fingers you won't run into a spike. Some way of helping me discern where to click before I blindly launch myself into the darkness. Secondly, I think having some kind of way to help the player not get stuck on corners or stuck on spikes could help the movement feel super smooth. But for 48 hours, you crushed it!
Excellent work!
thank you.
However for glow effect i didn't even have time for it and for spike hinting I didn't think of it
Thanks for you thought 😁👍
