Use of the limitation
I made the invincibility shield have a 10 second cooldown. As the game does on you have to rely on it more and more.

Fun game. Loved the art and the sounds. I would like to either be able to aim with mouse or use some button on the keyboard to shoot. It felt a bit weird to shoot with mouse but not aim with it. But thats just nitpicking.

Developer(+1)

You can shoot with spacebar on the keyboard. I should maybe add the controls to the start menu or start of the game. I think aiming with the mouse could be fun, I'll think about adding that as well.

very fun, and pretty good graphics and sfx!

Very cool take on asteroids, shooting felt good, and control was both floaty enough to feel spacey but responsive enough to not lose control. Always appreciate being able to hold down the fire button as well.

One thing we learned recently was that in games with nonstop firing sounds, it can be a good idea to add a little randomization to the pitch for variety.

Developer

Yeah the laser sound definitely got annoying after a few times playtesting it. I want to release an improved second version with better assets and with improvements. There's actually supposed to be stars in the background like in the screenshots but they didn't work after exporting. So there's definitely still some work I can put into it when I have some free time. I also really want to add mobile support at some point.

Awesome that you're going to continue working on it. When you update, reply here so I can see the newest version!  I've played some asteroids games that get real fun once you add in upgrades, etc.

Hey I just got a new version up that has the background and sounds fixed! I also added a bit of a delay to the beginning of the game as well so you're not immediately thrown in. I fixed asteroids spawning on top of the player too.

great game, was really fun and challenging to shoot the asteroids and have them breaking making a bit more difficult. Nice sound fx as well.

Developer(+1)

Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it!

cool game, at first I didn't figure out that you could shoot, and then afterwards I got like 12500 points. the movement would be better if you moved with the mouse I think, but I like that I can fill the screen with lasers by shooting in all directions. Also i think the use of the limitation could be better

Developer

The movement definitely takes some getting used to and the limitation definitely could have been better, I was kind of stretched for time since I had to scrap my original idea halfway through the jam. Did you have any ideas for alternative limitations while playing?

Submitted(+1)

I only got 4000 points, but I still had fun, shooting the asteroids away :)

The game is starting a bit to fast, before I could process what was going on, my first ship already got destroyed. A screen from the non-moving setup, with a countdown overlayed would help immensely with that.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I agree, I'll need to maybe make the first wave have less asteroids so players can get the hang of it or have the countdown. Also there's a bug where the asteroids can spawn directly on top of the player during the start of a new wave.

I never used any shields on the first play though went back and read what you said on the desc and was like ah you ate 3 cookies lol j/k I read that you could use a shield for 2 seconds that was a game changer for sure and cleared up my question of the limitation use.

Can never go wrong with the good old asteroid style game.

Developer

Yeah the limitation use could have been better. I thought about more asteroids being added every 10 seconds but my sleep deprived brain didn't think of that.

all good you have it in there so shouldn't be a issue
