This is some of the best use of the limitation we've seen so far. It is really creative, props to you, and congratulation for your first ever jam game! Like you've said yourself, the game does need a bit of polishing, and could use a lot more content. We would be happy to see that in your future games. We enjoyed this one a lot.  Good job!

Thank you so much for playing! Next jam I will try to manage my time better :)

I like this game! The laser feels very good, the types of enemys well together, but the laser over time becomes very weak for fighting with bugs. For first game jam it's very good job!

This is sort of cathartic to play, ha. The laser feels very nice to use, and the enemy variety is (initially) great. After a while, I'd have liked to see more types and tactics from the bugs.

And, as you mentioned in the description, there's definitely some balancing issues. If you upgrade the laser a couple of times, victory is essentially inevitable. And speaking of upgrades, I couldn't figure out on my first run how to do the upgrades; the purple circle thing didn't seem like a thing I could shoot, but rather a coin or something. Maybe making the things you have to shoot stuff in the scene that looks like part of the game world, rather than UI, would have helped to communicate how to use it?

Developer

Thank you for playing! I am glad you enjoyed it. Yeah It became quite obvious I did a really poor job on the upgrade UI. A lot of people did not figure it out. At least I learned something from it :)

its very fun, good job! though some balancing would be good, after you have upgraded damage a few times it gets pretty easy. other than that very good though!

Submitted(+1)

Was enjoyable, particularly the upgrading of my laser. Well done!

Developer

Thank you for playing! I am glad you enjoyed it.

Love the flame vfx! the health bars on the bugs are a little hard to tell when they are low or not, it is fun regardless!

Submitted(+1)

I love how the flame trail left by the laser looks! Good job!

Thank you!

Nice idea with the laser, good job on your first game! It does need some balance on the higher levels, as many high-level enemies come at once and there is no time to kill them all before they attack.

Submitted(+1)

Nice game. I wish that the difficulty level was bit higher

Submitted(+1)

Really neat.

i guess the fire animations are procedural ?

but overall, one thing that could be better is to make more visible the upgrade system...

good job for your first game jam !

Developer

Thanks for playing! Yes the fire is a particle system.

got super hard on wave 11 on at first was like this is pretty easy then got overran on wave 1. Nice job for your first game jam.

Submitted(+1)

That's not bad. The game looks good, gameplay is intense except that the balance could be better, but that's a nag. Given the modest timeline, it's great!

Developer

Thanks for playing. Yeah the balance is horrendous. The formulas for price and effectivenes of upgrades would need to be completely changed.

nice concept, but there is problem: the bugs iventionally become so strong, that laser can't handel them anymore

Developer

Thank you for playing! There is a upgrade system (top right - purple buttons). But people tend to miss it - I did not make it obvious enough sadly.

Cool game!

That laser beam is presented very well, I like it.

Submitted(+1)

Simple concept but a really fun one!
I think a mobile version would also fit really well.

Submitted(+1)

I had nice time drawing thinks with the laser between waves, but I wish I could upgrade it without firing it.

Submitted(+1)

fun and really easy to understand. The firey particle effects were great

Submitted(+1)

Brilliant! The upgrades make it too easy very quickly. Nice job!

Submitted(+1)

Congratulations on completing your first game jam! I like the laser effect and the fire that it creates.

It would be nice to see the enemies burning. (I also tried to burn the earth, but I guess that's not possible yet.. maybe in a future update?).

Keep up the good work!
