Arrow keys, X and mouse controls isn't gonna work. I think it should be WASD so I can have one hand on the left side of my keyboard and the other hand on the mouse.

Is there only two levels? Because after I beat level 2 I was sent to level 2 again.

No there are 5, I noticed when I tried it when voting had already started that the string to show the level was rather stupidly created at the beginning and so it always shows that you're starting level 2... haha, its fixed now though, will update after voting period :)

The controls are the true challenge of this game haha

Nice idea and good visuals, well done!

Developer

yeah, it's even harder with a touchpad on a laptop hahaha

Wasd controls coming up when voting ends :)

I'm pretty sure I don't have enough hands to play this game with keyboard, but I was able to make it work on controller.😅I guess you can't rebind controls on Pico-8, but might you be able to use the player 2 controls to make the controls a bit more reachable? I think if every control is accessible at once you can potentially make the game more challenging.

Overall pretty pleasant, and the on-screen level progress bar is much appreciated; I had fun with it!

yeah the controls were stressing me out towards the end, I only managed to make wasd and space work for controlling him shortly after submissions ended... Turns out I was reading like 5 lines too low on the reference guide haha oops.

After the power up system I'm thinking I might make bosses also at the end of each level so that should be an added challenge

I had a great time with the game, quite fun, to be honest. Good job ^^

thank you, I've been working on it since it was submitted and want more functionality to be added but I will wait til voting is over :)

Cute game!

But i don't quite like the game design.

Ir seems like the only reason Robert is in the game is because of the limitation, but it doesn't add anything to the game (In fact i would argue it makes the player play worse).

I would have seen the point if Dumbus didn't recieve damage but can shoot and Robert couldn't attack but can get hurt so it's like splitting mechanics, but right now the squid is bad design just for the sake of the limitation :/

In my opinion at least

Still i liked the presentation and enjoiedthe game a bit :)

Developer

I ran out of time while working on that part, he was intended to be the only way to pick up power ups and health, he wasn't added purely to fit the limitation

Aaaah that makes so much sense! i'm sorry you ran out of time

It happens :), I'm working on adding that functionality so it will be better, just waiting for the voting period to end.

Also I just noticed another part of your comment I didn't respond to, but Robert can get hurt too, he just isn't finished yet hah

Can I do anything with the mouse cursor?
