Use of the limitation
The progression system benefits the player by satisfying the greed of one of the characters(for example, the green dragon is greedy for hp items, if the player picks a lot of them the dragon will upgrade the COUNTER chance when defending). In the end of the game, the player can be greedy and try to double he's reward instead of finishing the game.

A cute game style, and I appreciate the choice to encourage mutliple replays with varied endings. The game had a fun charm to it.

I love the endings, I had so much fun playing this!

Very cool! I like the idea of fast paced rpg style games! The over the shoulder combat looks great! Also, how was godot? I tried it a while ago, but I'm thinking about getting back into it.

Thank you for the comment! Godot has been my main game engine for a while now, I think it's a more beginner-friendly engine to start with, and for 2D it is a really solid choice( can't talk about 3D cuz I didn't explore it a lot in it). I remember trying to make a 3D platformer on Unity but the engine's logic didn't quite click with me. I can yet tell that learning a bit of unity made it easier to go to Godot, both engines share a lot of concepts!

Pretty good! The game is easy, and it was a little hard to tell what was going on. And I was kind of just hitting attack the hole time. But with some polish it could be a lot of fun.

Thank you for the comment! The game initially was supposed to be harder, but we found that to be a bit frustrating for a first playthrough, so we eased it out a bunch. We also found balancing the stats between encounters to be a bit more difficult than expected, so we rushed it a bit to meet the deadline haha. We tried to make "defend" more relevant by giving it a chance to stun an enemy that attacked the player, but I suppose that could be more relevant in the "double or nothing" run of the game.

I really like the idea here! You pulled off the idea of balancing your stats really well. I did struggle with trying to tell what I supposed to do and ended up resorting to mostly just spamming attack. But getting the random loot and getting to purchase specific upgrades was where it came alive more for me. The art is great too, the dragons/adventurer looked hilarious. Nicely done!

Your game impressively showcases stunning pixel art, featuring an array of captivating monsters and items that I absolutely adored. While the UI was a bit strenuous on the eyes, it hardly lessened my overall enjoyment. The turn-based combat system was both interesting and charming, adding a unique touch to the gameplay.

I was particularly thrilled by the unexpected depth provided by the loot and shop screens post-battle, enhancing the game's complexity. The item descriptions, like the sonic shoes and chef's sauce, were a delightful touch, adding humor and personality. Excellently, the game encourages player progression through stat building, making the character stronger as the game advances.

The music was a perfect match, energetic and magical, without becoming repetitive or annoying. Although it was challenging to discern the main character's silhouette, guessing it to be an adventurer with two dragons on his shoulders added a charming element to the experience. Overall, your game is a testament to great design and thoughtful execution.
