Overall not bad! Gets repetitive fast though, once Ive gotten the same 3 structures in a row.

Doesnt seem to much difficulty scaling (Except the speed up in the post-jam version), in fact, the more upgrades you get the easier it gets, but other than trying to see how many coins you can get it can get meh once you upgrade a bit. I would recommend 'sets' of structures that scale in difficulty that slowly appear the farther you progress. Though the art style is awesome and I love sliding into cops and watching them fall XD

Developer

Thanks! It's a bit hard to have sets of structures without having them spawn wierd... But thanks for the feedback! Will definitely keep in mind the difficulty! :)

What else would you recommend to create a difficulty curve?

Hmm... maybe have small events that happen periodically to shake up things up? Like and earthquake that shakes the screen for snowballs from the sky (these are just examples and might not fit the theme you are going for), the events should probably happen more often the further you go.

Developer

Awesome! Sounds like a good idea.

This is a really cool entry! I've played both versions and they're both really good. It runs smoothly and I like how the controls are linked in during the gameplay. The aesthetics are nice and the music fits the game nicely. I especially loved the cheat code in the updated version ;) Well done!

Developer(+1)

Ayy, no problem man! Your game was really fun too! I'd like to see what you make in the future! :)

Cool game! I liked the idea and it was fun! There was some parts where I would get stuck but that was just my luck haha! Good job!

Developer

Thanks a bunch man!

Good game! Fun & decently polished. Didn't like how my guy moved even if I wasn't though, made the platforming quite tricky.

Developer

That's... not supposed to happen. Did this happen all the time or just a couple of occasions?
Thanks for your feedback!

No I just meant how he moves forward with the screen, so you have to press left a little to actually stay in place.

Developer

Ah, alright. That shouldn't be too hard to fix.

yooo this game good game man

Developer

thanks bro

what did you like about it? >:)

This is quite a solid entry. The game looks good and the music is also ok and they fit together really nicely. The game is also quite fun.

There are a few bugs though, and some things are a little bit weird.

You can't jump on ramps, and sometimes you can't jump at a part (at the base of the segment with platforms that you have to climb, and there are no goats). Also at the part with two columns and a stack of cash, if you go for the money, sometimes you can't climb back because your character collides with a wall and starts going up and down continuously.

Also the main menu was a really great idea, I loved it :) but the menu that appears after you die is a little bit annoying, because after you play you're doing stuff to WASD, and when you die you accidentally do DW and accidentally exit your game. If I were to go with the idea from the first menu, I would have made three platforms on top of each other and you would have to jump to the others, just like in the first menu, something like this.

                                                                    3>
                                           ----------------
                                                                    2>
                                           ----------------
you                                                            1>

where 1 is retry, 2 is go to main menu and 3 is to quit the game. If you want to retry, you simply just go right. If you want to retry, you jump on the second platform and go left, and the same for quitting.

I'm not sure if this is really the best solution, but sounds good to me :))

Developer

I see that most of your issues have already been adressed in the update of the game.
It hasn't been uploaded yet because It's a game jam and I want to wait until the voting period has ended.

Also, about the game over thing, I don't think if I can fix that.

You can jump at the part where you have to climb, but there's a bug I fixed where you hit your head against the side of the platform without touching the sides.

The idea is good, and the game itself is great, but the controls and hitboxes are a bit... off...
and for a platformer, not having precise controls can be game breaking. Other than that, the randomly generated levels are great, the cops feel fair, the dogos feel unfair, and the platforms sometimes letting you pass through them from below and sometimes not is frustrating.

The game has a few issues, but if you were to fix them, this would be a solid game! I also really like the permanent upgrades you can buy! Turn this platformer into a roguelite, really enjoyed that part of the game!

Developer

I already fixed most of your issues (including the semi solid platform bug), but of course I can't update the game because it's a game jam... xP

The reason the controls feel off is because you move slower to the right than to the left. This is to simulate running, instead of driving a car. (Wich means constantly driving forward, and only changing how FAST you move forward)
It's something you really gotta get used to. So I get why you feel this way! (Might actually change that)

Also, I was surprised you didn't mention anything about difficulty! Usually in these kind of games, the game goes faster and faster the longer you play. (I'm working on that right now.)

also i just want to say that the permanent upgrades almost werent a thing because playerprefs is hard to work with lol

I couldn't get far enough to see the change in speed. I only made it to the third, or fourth area before losing to something.
Also, you can upload a post-jam version of your game, as long as it's clear that it's a post-jam version and not the original.

And I probably need to get used to that movement system, but it just doesn't feel right...
Anyway, I would love to see an update with bug fixes! As long as you clearly state that it's not from the jam, and the original is still up there.

Developer

The change in speed isn't implemented yet. That'll be in the post-jam version.

I'm glad you enjoyed these aspects of the game!

This is quite nice actually, wish the view was more zoomed out so I could see more of what was going on and coming up though

Developer

I actually kind of disagree with this, the challenge is remembering the patterns and reacting.

During development I said to myself multiple times: "the game should be a little faster".
Also, consistent pixel size is very important! :)

Developer

Wow... I can't believe I got more than 10 downloads, haha!
