Pretty cool game! The artwork felt nice and movement was responsive. I found myself overshooting my jumps a bit though. As said, some music made in Bosca Ceoil might be helpful to add a bit more pop to the game. Also, Bfxr is a great, free program to make sound effects which I think would add a lot. Nevertheless, this is a solid entry and would love to see it expanded upon! Well done!
Thanks! Believe it or not I used Bfxr to make the current effects! I forgot to list it and I'm not that good with using it though.
I'm also looking into Bosca Ceoil for music but haven't gotten far.
Sounds good! I'm sure you'll get there!
This game has multiple problems.
Why can't we use the arrow keys? Are they even used for anything?
Because you made levels yourself instead of generating them, like "No Summit", they're very repetitive and they're really short.
No music in the game? A simple Bosca Ceoil track would've been no problem.
What do the cat powerups do? They don't seem to serve a purpose.
There's no difficulty curve. I rarely found myself dying and I don't think the difficulty ramped up during the short-lived levels.
The art is pretty good. Though I do wish there were more animations for the enemies. The enemies are also the only ones with... three colours? While every other sprite in the game has two.
Anyways, I just don't recommend making the levels yourself, since that doesn't add much replay value. Other than those gripes, this game is pretty decent! I'd love to see what you come up with next.
Thanks for the feedback! I was thinking of doing randomly generated things but I wanted to try something different than what I would normally do! I did this game to practice level design for it's one of my first projects with levels. I do agree the levels are a little short and if I plan on updating this I'll probably add an endless mode and bigger levels.
Btw the cat faces are more like collectibles as if you get each one in each level something happens (nothing to interesting, I added them mostly for fun)
Really good balancing of difficulty and the controls feel very responsive. Would be perfect with some music. Great game!
The cat pickups are so well placed that they add even more challenge to already difficult levels (I'm looking at you, level 3). Also the speed of the rising spikes is chosen perfectly!
Thanks! I was a little worried that the cats may have been a little to hard but im glad they were good! :D
A great platformer! The controls are precise, as they should be, the enemies predictable, the spikes at the bottom threatening, yea, it's a well rounded game. Only thing it's missing is some background music! Very nice game!
Thank you! There is a slight control bug that happens rarely (idk if anyone has had it, basically you dont jump when you should) but im glad everything else feels good!
That's an adorable cat you have here !
Thanks! I need to give him a tail later though :|
Awesome Game! I really liked the different level styles. The art style was also cool. Good Job
Thanks! I'm glad you like the art/level design :D
I'm planning on possibly adding more levels/mechanics after jam.
A good platformer overall! The graphics are a great addition, I like the main character especially.
I also thought the difficulty curve was well made... even if after the tutorial level I was surprised by the sudden floor of spikes
Thanks! The character is my favorite part of it so I'm glad you like it. I had some people test the difficulty so I could tweak it so I'm glad it worked!
Really solid platformer game.
The art really makes the game more atmospheric than you'd think of a simple platformer like this could be, so props for that!
Thank you! I tried to focus on keeping a theme when it came to art and I'm glad it turned out well!
