This game was fun! I enjoyed it. The only suggestion I would make is some soft of feedback when you hit an enemy. But great job!
The art, story, background music and overall game mechanics are all quite good. Nice job!
However, I felt the shooting felt a bit wonky. Also, spamming the boss didn't really do anything except pull up my Windows sticky key dialogue. It would be better to use another key for shooting like 'Spacebar' or any of the alphabet keys.
Is there a way to upload the game directly? The idea of having to go through an installer may prevent people from trying your game.
Glad you liked it! I have no idea whether I have the gamemaker license required to export a version that runs in browser, but it's something I'll look into for my next jam to be sure.
The game will accept just holding down the shift key if that helps. I had mapped shooting to the spacebar at first, but then moving diagonally and shooting at the same time seemed to be over my keyboard's rollover, so I made the swap. I actually wanted to add an autofire button to the game but since I'm bad at time management, that remained with the tutorial, the second level, and the dialogue system in the design doc lmao
Thanks for playing!
I meant a downloadable game that didn't require installation. I don't personally use GMS but I'm sure I've played games made with GMS that just required unzipping and double-clicking the .exe to start playing. For example Poop de Poule or RGB farm.
Game was great. The music was also killer. A little bit a text to tell the player how to game works would be helpful(might have missed it) but other than the game slaps and I'm very thankful for the representation.
Glad you enjoyed it! No tutorial is pretty high on my list of regrets for this game, you didn't miss it
I like the visuals, and the music is awesome! This game reminds me of old-school NES games
I like the idea of controlling the same characters with individual health pools, you can probably extend it a lot, good job!
Fun game, albeit a little short. No worries, the gameplay that’s there is good; It would be nice to have some more feedback from hitting enemies to make it more satisfying, though.
Nice Game. The thumbnail is awesome too
Visuals need more work
