Definitely impressive for the awareness of your assets and using them efficiently and effectively. Obviously, music would have been the thing to bolster your experience to the next level, but very well done.

Thanks! I completely agree, and not having time to create the music was my biggest regret.

Thanks for the playing!

Great game! Reminds me of Mario Odyssey. The 2  things I would want are a way to kill that rolling enemy, and so music!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! There was some inspiration from Mario Odyssey for sure.

You actually can kill them, but I should have made it more obvious. They become vulnerable for a short time after they slam into something.

I agree, music would have gone a long way here. Unfortunately I ran out of time :/

I had a blast, I don't even know where to start.

So art style - you nailed it, considering it only uses 3 colors. At first it was hard to believe so I looked carefully on every asset to find the 4th color to no avail. Looks fantastic.

Gameplay - I really enjoyed the hat throwing mechanic, but I would like to have more control over the throwing part. For example sometimes I would like the hat to be thrown just a little further/shorter. I think it would make sense having "the longer you hold the button the further the throw" would be great. Otherwise, polished and enjoyable.

SFX - The sound effects weren't annoying and each fit into the game, however I would like some sort of ambiance - wind/thunder/rain or just background music. It felt a bit lackluster hearing nothing at times.

I also would like to complement the little story you got over there. I for one like when the story is evolving on other characters and not just the player itself, so big plus there from me.

Overall, great polished work with an interesting concept. Thanks!

Thank you for your detailed comments and feedback!

I really enjoyed the 3 color limitation and tried to push it as much as I could. I'm pleased with the result.

That's a great point about the hat mechanic - I agree, having adjustable throw distance would have been an improvement.

I had plans to make music for each level, but unfortunately I ran out of time. I will definitely prioritize that higher next time. The problem with only adding some sound effects is that it becomes more noticeable when there isn't any ;)

Glad you enjoyed the story! Thanks for playing!

If it was a time problem, don't worry about it. I pointed it out because overall the game was really polished and there weren't really any bad things to say. Your time was spent well making the main game loop and levels and art - which are way more important in a game. (There are exceptions when audio is pretty important in other games, like mine for example, but that doesn't matter here)

I love this game. It is so polished and fun and well-designed. The hat is so much fun to move around with and is clearly very multi-functional. The game is full of very smart platforming and impactful effects. The dialogue is also pretty funny. The art is clean and beautiful and the restriction doesn't feel like a limitation to the game at all, but rather an aesthetic. The wizard was a very cool boss to fight against, but the enemies spawning in the end can get a little too many. The ending is well-executed and makes perfect sense. A lot of potential and polish here. This game is definitely a highlight this jam.

Glad you enjoyed the game! I can see how the enemies spawning can get overwhelming given the small size of the level at the end. Definitely something to could have used tweaking. Thanks for playing!

I'm blown away by such amazing levels of polishing this game has! I'm surprised that all the art and audio, along with the game was made in just a week! You've stretched the limitations of the jam to levels I didn't think were possible! I love the attention to tiny details like the birds, parallax background, walking particles, landing impulse on the hat and a lot more I must've missed. I usually would like to see a soundtrack as I believe it completes the experience of a game, but looking at the game you could pull off in such a short amount of time, I'm not complaining! I got stuck when I had to jump a platform pretty high in the air, so I tried glitching out the hat, failing to find a single glitch I could complain about. Art, SFX, gameplay, ambience, everything was just on-point! Mind blowing job on this one!

Thanks for the kind words! I had plans to add music but unfortunately ran out of time. Thanks for playing!
