Nice game!
One thing I'd suggest is to change tileset cell size from 16x16 to 14x14 so that it fits better together.
Also separate the colors for the earth and water, right now both are just black.
It was really fun to explore the world and see what I can uncover for the boss fight. Nice job!
that was the main goal, glad you enjoyed!
very fun to play! loved the world you created & the squid fight :)
glad you enjoyed the little world!
I don't think i've seen another adventure game yet and this was really fun to explore good work!
thank you!
a fun little adventure that lasts 5-10 minutes. I really enjoyed the experience. nice job! :^)
thanks! I really liked your entry and devlog too, cheers
Love this game! The little dialogue bits, the music, everything just works together and it is pretty polished! My boat got stuck in a house at one point which made me have to restart the game, but I felt motivated to actually start again because I wanted to finish it! Would love to see some procedurally generated islands in this sort of game, and also perhaps showing the player on the map would be good because I got lost a few times. Really good though, well done!
thanks for the praise! Glad you stuck with it even after that annoying boat problem, this bug escaped me.
As for your suggestions, really like the procedural generation of islands idea. I still don't have much experience with PG but it's one of the areas of game development that I want to learn the most.
The map not showing the player was intentional though, I wanted players to have to situate themselves by looking at the islands and have the possibility of getting lost, but maybe I should think of ways of making this more interesting.
Thanks a lot for playing and for the feedback, cheers
I did some pretty basic procedural stuff in my game, and I would definitely recommend it! Not sure how easy it is in GS2, but in Godot there was a simple procedural noise generator which you can plug coordinates into and get a value, and then place a tile based on that. I think it would be much harder to generate islands and then place structures on them like in your game, but I would love to see the tech implemented in this or something similar!
Honestly, super fun game! I had a great time killing the squid, and his presence in the center of the map was really cool, felt super intimidating!
I didn't really understand the point of getting the sword - maybe there should be something you need to kill on the crashed ship?
Overall, really fun experience. Great work!
Glad you enjoyed! As for the sword, if you go to the ship before completing the secret stash quest, there will be something waiting for you... I did this because I wanted to give players two different paths for getting the cannon. If you did both I guess you got the platinum trophy lol
Nice little adventure! I softlocked myself a few times by pushing away the boat :( but it was fun! Sometimes I wasn't sure if I was moving out of the boundries because how immense the map feels.
yeah this happens :( It's an easy fix but it escaped me during development.
Fun adventure game. Neat little animations on the characters. Reminded me of LoZ Wind Waker
good catch, totally inspired by Wind waker. Thanks for playing!
hey love what you did with the art!
Had a fun time^^
thanks for taking the time! cheers
This was great! Loved the exploration, the animations, and the gradual upgrading of all your abilities. Great job!
thanks! I was going for that exploration feel. Glad you liked it
I enjoyed the sense of scale! I wish things were a little big bigger for my old man eyes though, lol. :) Great work!
yeah I should make it a bit larger lol. Thanks for playing and the feedback!
I really liked how the music transitions when you ran into the squid as well! :D
I managed to squeeze this in the last minutes of the jam. Happy you noticed!
I really like the adventure, it was great.glad you played! thanks for taking the time to comment
I really like the adventure, it was great.Nice 3d-2d map! I liked the retro style to it and your coloring! A bit jittery though
thanks for playing and for the feedback!
No worries! I think the jitter was just my low end pc, adding a feature to reduce lag would be nice!
